Help me decide my next watch!
I am trying to decide on the following watches. Please take a poll and then post a message letting me know why you chose the watch you did. I really appreciate this help. The reason I am asking is that I hope to get different insight into these watches to help me decide. They are all beautiful and it's a difficult decision. I currently have the Rolex Sub, GMT and Daytona. Thanks again!
Thanks! Allan |

I voted DD. You have several sporty watches, and the DD is a classic slightly more "professional/dressy" choice. Although you have the Daytona, so I am not sure why you would ever want another watch!

Which versions of the AP, Breitling, Panerai did you have in mind? Royal Oaks? Offshores? Chronomats? SuperOceans? 111,113,112, 233, 249....
Have no idea what you're after here...a little less ambiguity would be helpful....but since you have me typing...and I'm guessing and I have no idea what your likes are with the exception of what is already in your watchbox....your next watch should be a AP Royal Oak Offshore Safari. cheers

Alan, you specify the Rolex model but not the model of the other brands - be more specific - which AP which Pam?

Allan,
If you have a big wrist, go with either the very expensive DD II or the new, soon to be released, DJ II......both in 41 mm size!! JJ

If I had the cash I would go for the DD - it would add something different to your collection.

I would go for the new style DJ for versatility, and to get the new superjubilee bracelet.
My second choice would be a DD on Oyster (in white gold). Good luck. Post pictures when you have decided. Best, A P.S. AP is really fine also ;-) |

What budget? These choices are all over the place in terms of pricing.

I think I ruled out the Breitling. Right now I am leaning towards a DJ, Pamerai or AP. I am not in love with the DJ but would wear it more as an everyday watch. Are Pamerai or AP watches more scarce to find? Is the Pamerai or the AP more popular with Rolex lovers? Allan |

If I had the money, I would pick the Day-Date. What strikes me a bit is how different your choices are that you are picking between. If I were not picking the Rolex, I might be interested in the Panerai at this point.
Yesterday, I was talking to a jeweler who used to carry Audemars Piguet. Since I had some time until my next appointment, I decided to stop in to the shop and look at the watches. I wanted to see which AP they had currently in stock. My surprise is that they didn't have any and had decided not to keep the line because too many of their customers had been experiencing problems and when they sent the watches out to be repaired, they often came back not fixed! This was a surprise to me. I had been considering buying an AP, but not anymore. Hope you enjoy shopping for your new watch. |

you have the divers, GMT and chronograph categories well covered i'd look at something totally different,i'd go for a black ceramic pam 292 j series with pig if you can find one, very limited, very collectable.

I got a Breitling Emergency to mix it up. It is a nice change from my Rolex.

Not at all Allen, these are incredible quartz movements, highly respected and very accurate, around +-5 seconds a year. Also there is the proffesional heritage of them, most of the air display teams in the world use them!

If you want bracelet and no straps, then IMHO eliminate PAM from your list. The appeal, to me, of these watches is largely based on the aftermarket straps.
AP, I have never been a fan of these watches, respectful . . yes, but a fan aesthetically no. Breitling, ahhh, possibly. Depends on the model. The new DJ, maybe. But the new DD, absolutely. If not the new DD, then I would consider a PAM 88 with a STRAP (actually, several straps!). But you said only bracelet, so that leaves . . . DD in platinum. |
