Favorite Legal Movie?
I met with my attorney yesterday and we were discussing the best all-time legal movies. His is "My Cousin Vinny," which interestingly is on tv at this moment. My favorite legal movie is a tie between "Paper Chase" and "The Verdict." What's yours? (I just checked online and The American Bar Association lists their "25 Greatest Legal Movies," and makes no mention of "Paper Chase," What a surprise!) What's your pick?

There was quite a bit of legality involved in The Shawhsank Redemption....so that would be my pick!!

Ed Norton in "Primal Fear" was great!
The original 12 Angry Men tops them all; every time it's on AMC or TCM I can sit down and watch the whole thing. |

I initially placed this in the "Jokes" section but it seems appropriate here . . .
This was told to me by my attorney - What's the difference between a good attorney and a bad attorney? A bad attorney can let a case drag out for several years and a good attorney can make it last even longer.

If prison movies come in then it has to be the shawshank redemption, if not then a civil action was great and I loved the paper chase (TV show not movie!)
Oh yes Ellen Brockovich was great as well |

I'm with Jim, Martin, Matthew and Dan. 12 Angry Men is a classic but I think Judgement at Nuremburg with Spencer Tracy just beats it to top place.
For a moment when I saw the title of the OP I thought it mean Legal Movie as opposed to Illegal Movie. I was quite quite shocked, Faith, until I read the post.

I loved the movie "Philadelphia," as it was based on a true story of a local attorney. I also recently met the judge who presided over that case, and he impressed me as an extremely nice, down-to-earth person.

The Winslow Boy by Terence Rattigan, couple of films made. I saw a theatre version last night with Timothy West, very compelling and recommended.

Jim Carrey's "Liar, Liar." "My Cousin Vinny" was also great.
