Yacht master 42 yellow gold vs yacht master 40 rose gold

My ad called me for a new yacht master 42 in yg. Having the 40 already in rose gold makes me feel like they are pretty similar although very distinct at the same time. Im thinking of keeping both what are y’all opinions??

I'd get the YG and sell the RG, depending on your wrist size.

When in doubt, keep them both.

YG YM42 is a dream! I have 7.5” wrists, but absolutely the best fitting, feeling Rolex in the range to me. Glidelock is a wonderful thing.

Keep both or sell the RG.

It depends on your wrist size, which one fit you better take that one but no need to have both.

I would rather keep RG and get something else (not another YM).

Wonderful problem to have :-)

On a side note, I am surprised that Rolex hasn’t standardized at either 42 or 40 for the “large” model and 37 for the smaller one.

As an aside do we think Rolex will discontinue the Everose 40 in preference for a 42 to sit alongside the YG and WG in 42?

That looks amazing.

I think I would add it to the RG, and then just see what happens. If it's too much, then you can always get rid of the one you don't wear. My two cents.

RG on OF is so amazing. I definitely wouldn’t flip it for a bigger version in YG.

I think keeping both is fine, but depends on your overall collection and where you’d like the collection to go in the future.

Imo, the RG YM40 (126655) has incredible proportions and with the mini Glidelock is a match made in heaven.

The YM42 is like a 2x scale increase (dial, hands, etc) of the YM40 RG.

Have both in the collection and see how you feel about wear and appearance over some time.

Yeah, I get it. I wouldn't be in a hurry to move either one.

Very nice collection.

I wouldn't get rid of the 40RG imo. Looking at your collection there is no need to keep both.

I own the RG and for me size and skin tone is the deciding factor. It’s one of my favorite pieces in my collection because of these 2 factors…

Yep, Rolex keeps upsizing with no functional purpose other than wrist presence. The nice thing way back, with the PM pieces yea, they were loud but contained but now seems like Rolex is going for an in your face vibe with the increasing proportions. Not a fan and and will be in the minority here but for me, PM is only for dress watches there is no added benefit of the heft and softness of the metal with a true sport watch.
