Arturo Gatti....R.I.P Possible suicide???
Man, it gets worse and worse...just saw this today....
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/b...,5476482.story I really doubt he would've taken his own life....I heard from a friend and a boxing forum he was supposed to testify on mob related stuff..... As far as Alexis Arguello, though none of us were there, and none of us knew what was going inside either person's head, Alexis did have a loaded gun in his mouth in the early 80s, after he lost about $3 million dollars (bad investments, drug abuse, lavish spending) on his boat with his kid there, pleading him not to do it, so if suicide was/is the case, I have to imagine it would have been Arguello, not Gatti. |

Hope thats not the case, but it wouldn't surprise me. I once went to a "Boxer's Ball" in Phila. in the 1990's and the boxing profession was so segmented it was just unreal. Between the promoters, the agents, the managers, the trainers, who wouldn't show because of all the above.
I don't know about the divisions in boxing now, but then, there was no harmony in the profession at all and who knows whos hands are in the pie! BTW, Philly threw a great banquet then with food second to none. |

His 23 year old gf is under arrest in Brazil. Supposedly, she strangled him with a purse string while he slept drunk.
This was in the news last week.

Yup....23 years old, barely 5 ft, tiny girl, Gatti was....5'8, I believe, fighting weight, last fight was 147, walking around, especially after retired, gotta imagine 160ish or higher....the latest is that she wanted him to change the will, had someppl enter the room so no signs of forced entry after he was passed out drunk....what shocked me was, I don't know if it's in the link, it said he was found SUSPENDED... not lying face down like I imagined
