What feels better than getting a new Rolex?

... being able to help one of your best friends get one!

I'm not a big spender but have been fortunate to get the trio I wanted. Last year, one of my dearest friends, who isn't a watch geek like us, told me there was one Rolex that did catch his eye, the OP36 silver dial. I never told him this but I actually wanted to get that exact reference for myself one day; however, he's worked hard, wanted to celebrate a career milestone, and is a one watch kind of guy.

The week after learning this I spoke to my wonderful sales associate, put in the request, and made sure to politely remind him every few months. I know this isn't a Daytona, but I honestly believe my friend would have never secured this watch by just walking into an AD by himself. Fourteen months later (yes, 14 months!), I got THE text we all dream of. Funny, I was more excited and happy for my friend than if the text was for myself. I arranged for the appointment and two days later my dear friend of over 25 years now owns his first Rolex.

I won't lie, there was a small part of me that wished I got it, but his genuine appreciation for my help, and our mutual respect for each other really is priceless. Thank you for reading.

Been though that myself. Helped get my good friend get a sub date LN last year. I told him it could be a couple of months, it was 4 days, couldn’t believe it, was pumped for him. He won’t take it off. We had a nice celebratory drink after as well. Good stuff!

Thanks Jrell, Wayne ... yeah, he's pretty damn happy with it. It's stunning and an underappreciated reference.

Wayne, one request, please post again your famous pic of your gorgeous OP39 white dial. Thank you!

Very cool OP!

Most people would say "What feels better than getting a Rolex? Flipping it for 2x MSRP!!"

Congrats to your friend on the new piece. To answer your question though riding my motorcycle at full lean trying to get my elbow to scrape the ground feels way better than getting a new watch.

To answer the OP question…the answer would be too R or X-rated, and also off-topic, for this forum.
