Natural antiperspirant?
I was going to title this thread "do you smell?" but I thought that may send the wrong message. People might think that Chewy is on the loose again.
Lots of people are trying to avoid aluminum in conventional antiperspirants because of all of the terrible things that it can do to you. Allegedly. I bought some "natural" deodorant this summer (Dr. Squatch) which works only moderately well for me. I sweat a lot. Typically I do better with antiperspirants rather than deodorants. Aside from it not working terribly well for me, I don't care for the fragrances of Dr. Squatch. I thought I'd ask here, since we are such a diverse bunch, and many of us are concerned with things like our health, what non-toxic products have you tried that you were happy with? Thanks!

I wish I could help you Michael.
I don't sweat all that much but I switched from anti perspirant to deodorant when I was in my early 20's. I always found that deodorant makes me feel fresher than antiperspirant.YMMV I also figure, sweating is a normal thing for your body to do, so why fight mother nature Here is what I use. 20221103_151516.jpg Sent from my SM-G960W using Tapatalk |

Look into the Schmidt’s brand. They have many different products and scents with no aluminum salts or parabens. I have been pleased with the Charcoal & Magnesium one.
Edit: As Mr. Goat said referring to his wife below, I switched from Secret Clinical Strength. My family was “blessed” with heavy sweat glands…unfortunately. I’ve stayed with Schmidt’s products. YMMV. |

Been using ladies deodorant for 25 years.
I used to get massive lumps that were excessively painful in my underarms. I was told there is less aluminum in women s and that it’s better for sensitive skin. Using ladies deodorant solved the problem for me. Zero issues. And I smell like a powdery cucumber. Fwiw, I have been lucky enough to get a lot of feedback, if you get my meaning, and it’s been overwhelmingly positive.

Fun fact, you are not supposed to apply antiperspirant during the day - apply it at night. Your sweat ducts are less active at night, allowing more of the active ingredient (aluminum) to get into the ducts and take effect during the daytime. This leads to less irritation during the day (if you apply it in the morning, sweat mixes with active ingredient on the surface of the skin and irritates it)!

I use stick deodorant (non anti perspirant) from arm and hammer. I also use strong cologne (eau de parfum). I don’t use anti perspirant at all. The cologne helps cover the smell.

Had a time in life where I would sweat like crazy due to a medication so I used certain dry. One thing I noticed is if you don’t sweat from your arms you will sweat somewhere else. Forehead, hands, feet, wherever. Now she has me using oak and oars or something like that. Smells great when it goes on and by the time it’s worn off and mixes with my sweat my arms smell like street tacos

I’m lucky. I haven’t had to use deodorant since I was a teenager. Back then, I used these rock crystals.
Nowadays simple hygiene keeps the BO away, even when I sweat. You know, what you eat has a lot to do with it as well. |

That's a good point. I had coworkers once complain that I smelled like beer when I perspired.

I use Native as it is aluminum and parables free. It works exceptionally well and highly recommend.

I see a lot of commercials for Lume. They claim it’s natural.

I tried several with no results more than 10 years ago when the fear was of a link to dementia. Even before that was called into question, I had to switch back because none where effective in fighting the stink.
Are there concerns other than dementia these days??? I have thought about switching over to a basic deodorant as many here do as I tend not to be a heavy sweating guy.

I see no point in avoiding antiperspirants for the aluminium chloride content. Why don't you try a modern deodorant? It makes your sweat not smell instead of making you not sweat.
Also, if you are avoiding anything containing aluminium you need to go all vintage with you watches since the saphire crystal on your modern watch is aluminium oxide. |

Try magsol from Amazon. I am a sweaty stinky beast and it works. Need to stick with it for about two weeks. I like the lemongrass, even though I hate lemongrass I love the smell of this one.
