Can we have another watch as superbly engineered, as practical and so masterfully constructed as the GMT-IIC - the BEST watch to have rolled out of Geneva in most recent years.

Yes, we've had the Milgauss, the new DD-II and DJ-II, as well as the DSSD; but there's nothing, repeat nothing, to beat the sheer genius and ingenuity of the GMT-IIC.

It IS a great watch. I would argue that there was more ingenuity in the design of the Deepsea though.
I, like Colnago, am looking forward to seeing the SS Sub.

In order to help cater to everyone's tastes and wrist sizes, I think the 40 mm is just about perfect!! Any larger, and this beautiful GMT-IIC will no longer be what it is!! 40 mm is PERFECT!!

While the engineering of the DSSD is something to be truly marvelled at, it's the practicality, beauty and superb finish of the GMT-IIC that draws your breath away!!

J.J. I understand you don't care for Daytona's but how about a new larger ( 42/44 ) with ceramic insert graduation ( black on black and white on white ) maybe with à date ?

Stop selling that GMT IIc , I really can't afford another Rolex now . Blew my watch budget for a while.
It is defenatly becoming the " next on my list " all this thanks to people like you J.J. and others on this forum . I'm really starting to wonder if this forum is as independent as it claims to be . I have never been tempted by any advert issued or endorsing of Rolex itself , but the pictures and stories on this forum are far more effective to me .

I am indeed looking at a GMT IIc as my next one, or an Explorer(1).

But I must ask, what are the differences between the non c and the c model of GMT II ?

This just occured to me that I have seen both versions of the name.

You're not in the minority Martin. I think it's a nice watch but after studying it for an extended period (several months) and looking at it on the wrists of various friends, I find the visuals a bit too "busy''. Maybe it's the font used for the bezel's numbers which are too large. Still a nice watch though, but maybe not such a compelling "buy'' for me.

IMO I think the latest Milgauss is the best watch Rolex have produced in recent years!!!!!

It's stunning (I'm a little dubious of the orange lightning bolt but I still prefer that to the big ceramic bezel and font on the GMTc)

I remember when people went bonkers over the Sub LV. now there are a bunch in the sales corner.

Although, I do think the GMT is more funtional than the LV

The GMT is a nice watch, but I don't care for the plastic shiny look of the bezel and overlarge bezel font. I also feel the watch is unnecessarily chunky for a GMT and the overall design is unbalanced, esp. lug to bracelet. It traded off the original's elegance for bulk.

Question...would you consider flipping Platty or Blusey (I know not Subby) for a GMT IIC? You got your wish for a 41mm DJ!!! Is that in the horizon for you? Just curious

Good question, Steve......but I would NEVER part with Platty - it's unique and the ONLY Rolex with a SOLID Platinum dial and bezel. I won't be able to reafford it at today's price.

Bluesy......well, tough call!!!

Not really sure what I'm going to do next, but I really love the SS GMT-IIC!!!

Well, a plat DD I'm sure has a plat bezel, maybe not dial though...

C'mon JJ, I've only been here since Aug 07, but reading some of you posts, you've had Bluesy...3x?? maybe 4? When I first joined, I remember, wow!! Telly Savalas is still alive? And he wears a Rolex??

For me, the Triangle at the top is too "broad"!

This, of course may be the case with all numbers on the Bezel, but this Detail sticks out for me!

GMT IIc - ok ( TT better ), Ceramic Sub - NO!!!

After trying one on at the AD, not overwhelmingly moved. I still love my 16610. The only thing that I'd like to see improved on it is the clasp a la the DSSD.

While I think the GMT IIc is nice, it is not the perfect watch, IMO. And after having worn a Breitling SOH 46, I think Rolex should scale up a bit more.

I have mixed feelings about the GMT IIc.

I like the new bracelet and clasp. I think the green writing and green GMT hand are sharp. I like the larger size and weight.

What I dislike are still the cyclops and the oversize font on the bezel.

After trying one on several times I still have yet to pull the trigger. My gut tells me to pass despite all the praise here. I felt better about the new Milgauss on my wrist. There is something very subtle about how perfect that watch felt on my wrist.
