Passing it down…..

When this newborn grandson turns 23, I will be 76 yrs old. Hopefully he will be responsible enough and have the appreciation to receive the watch that I was wearing the day he was born.

Congrats, beautiful grandson you have. Unlike the watch, not nearly as long a waiting list, but a special one-of-one edition .

Wow, so beautiful....both your watch AND your Grandson! I see he already has the matching blanket to go along with his future watch as well. Would be cool if you gave him a copy of this photo in a frame, along with the watch on his 23rd birthday!

Congrats on the grandson! I have my grandfather’s watch and great grandfather’s pocket watch, both meant so much to me. Having a reminder of them is amazing. Your grandson will love it for sure and think of you.

23 and responsible? Wouldn’t count on it, and if he is the likelihood of him wanting a Rolex to keep vs sell to use the money for whatever he’s into is low, but huge congrats on his birth either way.

Hopefully it is on your wrist each and every day through your journey and milestones over the next couple of decades and has lots of marks and stories to tell.

Congratulations on the beautiful addition to your family

You know you’re deep into watches when you’re posing for wrist shots with your newborn grandson in the hospital

No grand kids but two middle age sons who have exceeded every expectation in life. They will have plenty of watches and stereo equipment to debate over when I’m gone. I’ll have to pick one for my 911 :)

I can say from personal experience, I think he will. I'm very luck to have inherited a 1957 gold Datejust that my grandmother gave to my grandfather for christmas in 1959. I even have the original box and papers. I also inherited the 1971 GMT Coke my mom gave to my father for their wedding. They are of enormous sentimental value to me. And my daughter will get all of them someday too. Very cool photo too.

Congratulations! To steal a slogan from Patek; you never really own a Rolex, you merely take care of it for the next generation! The OP 36 I bought last year will be passed on to my nephew, who loves watches as much as I do. I inherited my beloved grandfather's 1960-61 Hamilton automatic, and am reminded of him every time I wear it.

Best photo I have seen in while. Hopefully he will be responsible and worthy of it when he comes of age. I like the suggestion of framing this picture on his 23rd birthday. Congrats grandpa!!
