Would You Do This Trade?

I’m seriously considering trading my yellow gold green dial Daytona (116508), excellent condition full set July 2021 warranty card. In return I would receive an AP RO Panda Dial Chrono (26331ST), full set excellent condition 2021 warranty card AND a brand new unworn Omega Speedmaster 50th Anniversary Silver Snoopy Award (310.32.42.50.02.001). This would be a straight trade with no money going to either party.

I really want the AP and Snoopy and don’t want to have to come out of pocket to buy them, but I’m torn on whether I should let the Daytona go because of future collectibility. My only complaint about the Daytona is that I think it wears slightly small on my 7.5” wrist. I know that only I can make the decision, but curious from other TRF members if you think the trade value is equitable and what you would do in my position. I know, first world problems!! Some pics below for your consideration

I like and would do the trade mostly because I’m not a fan of the green dialed 18k Daytona…
Wouldn’t do it for say a meteorite or diamond dial Daytona though…
But I also feel you should get a few thousand back in return just on principle alone…
Solid 18k watch > 2 SS watches
$75k > $10k + $55K

I’d keep the JM, I have an 8” wrist and still plan on adding a JM when I get one from my AD. Speedmaster is fine but I don’t get the Snoopy hype and the Daytona is a better looking chrono than the AP.

Please do Andrew.

You’re in a unique spot here, where there is truly no right or wrong IMHO.

I guess for me, it comes down to getting two fantastic references instead of owning one.

I think you’ll appreciate having a bit of chrono variety in the trade scenario

Do the trade.

There are a wide range of Daytonas, some super cool and some are super tacky. Yours is not the former.

There are lots of AP’s and speedmasters…. Those are both super cool ones.

Yes, I would do that trade for sure! Makes sense both in terms of what you get horologically, but financially as well.

I would.

And it’s all personal taste but the ‘Mayer’ is due for a major price correction. The green hue just doesn’t work to me and fwiw the wg blue dial 116509 is the modern OG all PM Daytona.

I like the other two fine enough, but that Daytona is so beautiful. I’d just rather have that one.

it’s already corrected like 50% to the downside. Could fall more of course. I’d make the trade, love the Snoopy.

Tough one… I think the green dial is far more special than the white dials, even two of them. But I do love the AP bracelet. I’d like to know what else is in your collection but I’d probably end up keeping the Daytona.

I’ve got a pretty big collection… for Rolex I have a Hulk, Bluesy, no date Sub, BLNR Jubilee, BLRO Jubilee, Milgauss GV blue dial, rose gold olive dial Day Date. A couple of Tudors and a few other vintage pieces in the safe. I do have a Speedy 1831 hesalite already, and I also own a Patek 6119R. I currently do not own an AP and love the Panda dial reference. FWIW I think I’ll be getting a SS Daytona from my AD for an upcoming milestone birthday which would fill the Daytona void in my collection.

You’ve got good color variety with your collection, given that I’d do the trade. Will the SD Daytona be white dial? If so that’s another consideration, three white dial chronos? Granted all different brands but that might be a lot of white dial chronos… good luck with the choice, no wrong decision.

In your position, if I was sure I was getting another Daytona….I’d probably do it, given that you really like the two you’ll be acquiring. I’d only question if you’re good having a SS over a PM Daytona in the collection.

Between being in it for retail and having more Rolexes and a PM Rolex in your collection - I say yeah, go for it

I’d do trade. Both great watches in return. These things aren’t really an investment (present times notwithstanding) and owning what you want to wear is best strategy.

I’d do the trade then pick up another gold Daytona with different dial as market conditions permit.
