Warranty Service PSA

I have just sent off a DD40 to the RSC for "the sickness." A couple points of interest. I had to pay the shipping, which is interesting in that I have previously had an Omega and an IWC repaired and in both instances they provided my a pre-paid shipping label. Also of note, the lady I spoke with on the phone told me I did NOT have to send in the warranty card, just a photo copy would suffice. This is validated on the form I had to fill out - screen clip attached.

So 1. you pay shipping, 2. Don't have to send in the actual card these days.

Just a PSA for anyone curious.

Which RSC did you ship to? What carrier did you use - USPS, UPS, FedEx, other?

Please back how long the service took and how the watch was shipped back to you.

I called Dallas thinking that would be my preferred RSC (no real reason), the lady I spoke with told me because it was a warranty situation it had to go to Long Island, NY. Shipped via USPS registered, expedited. It freaks me out a bit to ship a 40 grand anything via mail, but the postal counter lady told me it will be secured at each point, and insured.

Good info, and USPS registered is best.

Beverly Hills RSC normally requires customers to drop off and pick up at the service center. Unless things have changed in the last six months, they don't have a shipping department. The New York RSC ships FedEx insured at their expense.

Beverly Hills does ship back to customers; brought my TOG in person in November 2022 and got it back by mail in December

Interesting.

Did you take any photos of your watch before shipping it off?

When I took my watch into the Rolex boutique I was surprised to see them photograph it from all angles before it was taken away.

Good that they also document before and after on their end.

I always do the same and take pictures before I hand a watch over

Rolex will send a shipping box and instruct you to send via USPS Registered and pay for the shipping. A few weeks later, RSC will send a check to reimburse you for the cost of shipping. When the watch is repaired, RSC will return the watch postage paid and insured. I've done this several times with no problems.

I just emailed the Dallas RSC and they sent me full sheet instructions. The 2 big points:

1. USPS Registered Mail ONLY. They were very very explicit about this.

2. If watch is in warranty, send copy of warranty card

Interesting. I’m fortunate enough to be within walking distance to an RSC. Annoying if you have to mail it in. Thanks
