Sell GMT BLRO + Submariner 126610LV to fund AP Chrono

Hey TRF,

Need some advice. Would you sell GMT BLRO and Submariner 126610LV Cermit to fund Audemars Piguet 38mm Chronograph Blue dial ref. 26715st? AP would be from AD at retail. This would be my first AP which I plan on wearing often.

Rest of my collection consists of Daytona black SS and Olive Green Day Date which I would never part with.

Thanks in advance and your kind opinions.

AP chrono movement are not the best in terms of reliability. but if you are not happy of those 2 rolex then go upgrade to the holy trinity.

My AP carbon Chrono has been back to AP several times over the last 5 years.
My friends identical watch has spent more time at AP service than his wrist.
So agreed, AP's chrono movements leave a lot to be desired.

Zero problems with any of my Daytona's by the way.

I’ve had two of the new movements go back for service already!
Still love the watches, but always a reminder of like when you move on from a Porsche it another exotic car and how often that car is in maintiance!

I would say get the AP, but you are going to need to daily one of the chronos, the AP or the Daytona, as you likely won't daily a PM watch. You do lose a diver and a GMT, and get a bit redundant with 2 chronos. But, AP is a level beyond Rolex, and you have 2 Rolex icons still.

+1

Also, $35k is a LOT for a steel watch.

For me, I'd definitely trade the BLRO and the LV... simply because I'm not a huge fan of either, and I'd much rather have an AP than those two. Just not that particular AP though, as I hate 4:30 date positions! Personally I'd prefer the simpler, cleaner (and cheaper!) 15500ST.

Man to be straight up I am not a fan of AP quality. The Royal Oak bracelet catches scratches like crazy. They stretch out really quick and it takes months to get a new one. Plus they are quite expensive. I used to think AP was a grail watch and then after spending time with one I put my trusty Rolex back on. They have a great history in the Swiss industry but not my cup of tea

This is good info, thanks for sharing your experience. I have a few Rolexes and really want an AP Royal Oak (mainly because of the bracelet) but this is making me think twice, since the main reason I love the watch is the main reason you didn’t.

Keep all if you can but if you can't then yeah do it. AP is a much harder watch to get and it has a high beta. The Pepsi and cermit you can always buy back in time.

I wouldn't buy anything that ugly or a watch with such small sub dials, let alone throw away two such superb watches to acquire it. If you have to ask you likely have a doubt, and if you have a doubt there is no doubt. Bottom line: you should do as you see fit.

If you can get it at retail, sure. The AP itch is one that needs scratching. My first was the 25860… glad I did it but I still prefer Rolex.

I love APs. They were the watch I strived for in my collection. . I Had 3 ROOs, and they all got sent back more then twice in a year. I will say there service is the best I've seen. That being said I am back to Rolex.Scratch the itch but you will see in time what I am talking about.

Id do it if i were you. Ap chrono, daytona, and dd40 olive is a great 3 piece collection. I wouldnt really miss the blro or the cermit. Tbh i have dd40 olive and rather wear that daily over my sport rolexes and royal oaks.

I’d be tempted to move the Daytona for the AP. Just pay any difference

No. Just add. LV/BLRO is my only SS Rolex right now and every time I think about parting ways and buying more VC I wear them and realize they aren't perfect but are damn great.

Maybe consider for the plain blue dial RO, but certainly not the chrono.

Sell GMT BLRO + Submariner 126610LV to fund AP Chrono

Based on what you have, I probably would. Would be a nice trio.

Put me down as a likely

I would do it. AP ROC is gorgeous but I preferred 26240 (41 mm) to 26715 (38 mm).

I am looking for 26240OR at a more reasonable price, right now the secondary market price is 2 x MSRP.

You're very lucky to get it from the boutique, so go for it now.
