My goodness that is an outstanding piece. Stone dials just blow me away with how they sneak up on you, both in terms of how beautiful they are and how off the radar they can be. The old ones like this coral one from the 90s are always delightful little discoveries.

I love how everything is so understated yet also flamboyant.

The coral dial is one dial I'd consider getting an aftermarket version of since the factory versions are so expensive and rare.

@DumpsterFire, is that a “bull’s eye” dial?

@powerfunk’s fabulous every stone dial list describes it as a more reddish tiger eye, but I’m not sure I’ve seen another one beyond Rob’s list photo. I’m just *guessing* that the tiger eye DD never came with those octagonal diamond settings.

Can we see some sunlight pics of it? (Or if anyone else has a bull’s eye dial, let’s see ‘em!)

I’ve had exactly the same thought, but I understand that most coral these days is harvested by dynamiting reefs in the Philippines, which is not something I’d want to support, even indirectly. (Seeing what’s happened to the reefs off the Florida Keys in the last 40 years is genuinely heartbreaking.)

The Rolex coral dials use a variety of coral known as precious coral.

They only grow at great depths and in certain regions around Japan, Taiwan, and Italy and have to be harvested carefully.

I think the Filipino coral must be the cheaper stuff that's done unsustainably.

Some more pics. Was gifted it. I’ve been trying to find out how odd this one is ( rare) lol. Pain trying to find out. Bullion is a new Hobbie. Pays for its sled like watches 🇺🇸🇺🇸🤠.

Thanks for the photos! - As to how rare it is, I’d say “very.”
