Date is Stuck on my Submariner

I bought a Submariner a year and a half ago. I wear it regularly, and when I don't I keep it in a winding box. It has worked pretty well, up until 3 weeks ago. When I pull the crown out to adjust the date, the date won't change at all and stuck on day 29. I can hear the click when I turn the stem on this position, but nothing happens. When I pull out to extend the crown further to the time position, and I turn it until I hit midnight, I can see the date is trying to change to the 30th, but then just gets stuck on the 29th. Everything else like the winding position, the time position work just fine. It tells the correct time, it's only the date position that's failing, and even when I try to adjust it manually, by getting it to go past midnight, the date still won't change. The watch is only a year and a half old, so it shouldn't have any issues. Any idea what could be the problem?

Is there a Rolex Service Center nearby your place? That’s where I would take it asap.

Yes, well not exactly close but I planned on taking it in after my vacation. I just wanted to know what possibly could be wrong with it, as it shouldn't happen to a newer watch. This is my first rolex watch, but I've heard sometimes it's a simple fix as playing around with the stem crown if something is stuck.

This happened to my 116610LV. It had been sitting for a few weeks unwound at my AD and I couldn't set the date when I picked it up from them.

The SA moved the crown both ways in both positions, wound it a few times, gave it a shake and kept fiddling. After a couple of minutes the date wheel behaved and has behaved in the proceeding 16 months. He explained how it can happen but the details elude me past the fact that it does happen and hopefully you won't need to send it to RSC to cure it.

Oh interesting! I have the 116610LN. There was a time frame where I didn't wear it for quite some time, but I did keep it in a winding box, just to get the movement going, so it wouldn't just sit there. Maybe it wasn't enough movement? Or I needed to wind it manually? Change the date manually? I don't know. This did happen the first time I took it out of it's box after not wearing it for awhile in that time frame. Did he fiddle with the crown in both the winding and date position?

Yes, the watch is not functioning properly. Given its age, it needs a warranty service from RSC. With all things mechanical, issues can arise, no matter how much care and quality control go into the manufacture.

Did you buy it new? Are you in Bellevue WA?

AG or BB can send it in for a warranty service. Nesbits in Seattle has a parts account and solid independent if you are out of warranty.

Yes, I live in Bellevue, WA. The issue is right now, that I'm not home, I'm out of town for 4 more days, and if I take it somewhere around here, then most likely I'll have to pick it up from here. I thought maybe it was something that could be a quick fix by moving the crown if something was stuck (which I'm only suspecting because I'm no expert at all by far, but everything else works just fine). At least that's what was recommended to try before actually taking it in to Rolex. It was just weird to me that a year and a half year old watch of such quality would break so soon. That's the only reason I suspected something stuck or a quick fix. I saw that Bellevue was the only place close by at Ben Bridge jewelers where they can actually service the watch in there. I had no idea Seattle's Ben Bridge was also a place to take it to service it? At least from when I looked it up online if worst comes to worst and I have to take it in.

Ben Bridge is authorized to do Rolex work and offer the 2 year warranty. The work is done at their flagship store in Seattle. If they can’t service it, they send it to Dallas. I would just drop it off at the Seattle store.

Thank you. Good to know! I only saw Bellevue online, but maybe it might have changed to Seattle. Although Bellevue would be closer to me.
