Store owner wearing a fake
There is a local jewelry store that is an AD for Rolex. I bought a watch from them in 2018, and had been in to browse every now and then. The most recent time I was admiring an exhibition skydweller, and the SA mentioned that the owner has a collection of the full PM skydwellers, and they are awesome. I replied that I noticed the owner had been wearing an AP Royal Oak the last few times. The SA said that the AP was a fake! Seems like the owner was upfront about it to his own staff, but something about a Rolex AD wearing a fake AP doesn’t sit well with me. What do you guys think?

If the owner wears a fake then I would not shop there anymore.
Maybe the SA is lying. A lot of drama at small shops. I would hold judgment until you hear it straight from the horse's mouth. |

Very weird for the SA to tell you that. I doubt a person with a collection of full PM skydwellers would need to wear a fake RO.

Possibly overthinking it? Personally I’d never wear fake anything. If the link to organised crime, human trafficking, plus intellectual property theft aren’t enough of a reason to deter people then the ethics surely should. (My opinion)
That said, if sales staff choose to wear counterfeit watches, it’s their life; who am I to judge? As long as it doesn’t affect the level of service I receive, I couldn’t care less. |

I really would have a tough time believing that the store owner would wear a fake. I suspect somebody is lying. Either the SA to you, or another SA told your SA that info or something. I notice your SA didn't say the owner told him this info directly? No reason for the store owner to wear a fake. Even if he didn't have anything to wear that day, he could grab an exhibition piece and wear it.

I would think that there might be some miscommunication here, unless this is one of the most foolish owners in history. Doing this would likely pose a great deal of risk to one's ability to retain their AD status and would certainly have the potential to harm the establishment's reputation.

Either a joke from the SA or an AD to avoid.

Had to be a joke, no way would an AD bring anything fake into their store it would make every customer wonder if what they were buying was real.
