PM Daily?

Hey team -

First post here, looking forward to more.

Background… My wrist is flat, usually around 6.75”. Currently have a PP 5117 (YG) for formal situations and a Pepsi 16710 for work. Considering adding a few more pieces to round out my rotation.

Looking to get a PM daily - something with character, but that also flies a little under the radar. Most importantly, something on rubber that can handle swims, tennis, errands, and chasing kids (and the impromptu drinks or lunch).

Weighing between the RG YM40 Oysterflex (116655 or 126655) and the RG Omega Seamaster AT (220.52.41.21.03.001).

Hit me with some feedback on your choices or alternatives!

RG Yachtmaster sounds like the perfect fit for you. Nice bonus is that it comes with a Glidelock.

Personally I would never buy the Omega.

Appreciate the input. Curious… opposed to this particular Omega or the brand in general? It’s a thread for another day, but considering a different Omega for a “beater” or GADA piece, so the general feedback is welcome.

As I was reading the first few lines of your post I was thinking RG Oysterflex. Absolutely beautiful (and very comfortable) watch. I think with the Oysterflex it's fair to say it flies under the radar considering what it is.

YM40 for sure. Tried one on a few weeks ago and really liked it.

Early welcome to the PM daily club.
Car wash time!

Another vote for the YM. Quickly becoming a landslide. Good luck with the car wash!

If you’re dead set on rubber you don’t have an awful lot of choice when it comes to Rolex.

Fair point. Have never considered the Daytona (which I guess is the only other option on the OF). Could be convinced, though.

I would strongly suggest you get the full experience and get a watch on a gold bracelet. There are numerous aftermarket rubber straps you can put on them. Doesn’t sound like budget is an issue for you (mind you you’re only paying a few k extra for the bracelet, the rubber models are overpriced in my opinion.

Thanks for all the replies! To the full PM crew (which has grown)… I had considered it but was a bit worried by weight and size (mostly when it comes to the PM Sub) given my wrist size. It is by no means tiny but still slim.

Sub is obviously a classic. Would a PM sub swamp my wrist or be too cumbersome for lots of daily activity? Thinking along the lines of a Smurf. Pretty sure full PM Daytona and DD would be fine.

Under the radar and PM suggests something in White Gold to me … maybe a Submariner or a BLRO

WG Sub or WD Daytona (blue dial) would be my pic for a bracelet model daily.

I have the RG Yachtmaster and love it! I have had it 4 years and the case looks like the day I bought it. Go for it.

I tried the RG YM oysterflex and it looks fantastic in the flesh.
Perfect blend of understatement with a splash of class.
Could be worn in any occasion as well.

Big fan of the 126655 with Glidelock. Love the understated matte black bezel while the rose gold provides the perfect amount of 'splash'.

Tried it on at the AD too, and the heft of the watch felt really good on the wrist.

I like the RG YM but the no end links is a deal breaker for me

A 515 would be a good choice. I’ve been wearing mine for about a week straight and you can do anything you want wearing it. Also looks great with a suit or sweats.

Wearing PM as a daily is what I do and many many others here on TRF. Just understand once you go PM either on OF or bracelet its gonna be hard to wear anything else. A lot of posters in this very thread have some serious PM collections because of that very thing.

The slippery slope of the PM! Haven’t gotten that feeling from my dress watch, but I am sure it happens once you have a larger chunk of metal on your wrist.

For sure. My WG Sub weighs literally 1/2 pound with 1.5 links removed. The feeling of picking it up and clasping it on my wrist is magical every time.

This is so true.... was lucky to get a RG Daytona on OF, and the bug had bitten! Then traded my steel 116520 for the WG Sub which is now my favorite piece! It's stealthy and hefty and glorious!Name: Screenshot_20230130_211034_Gallery.jpg

Love the pics, guys. Question for either of you... what's your wrist size? The Sub is a classic and the blue PM is a killer option. Only worry is about the super-case Sub looking too big on my 6.75" wrist and slim/athletic frame.
