White Dial Showdown
Hi guys so I’m looking to add a white dial chronograph to my modest collection so I wanted to get everyone’s two cents. I’m considering either the Tudor Black Bay Chrono or the Zenith Chronomaster Sport.
Obviously the Tudor is about 1/2 the price of the Zenith, so going with the Tudor would allow me to also add a white wave dial Omega SMP 300 and get a white rubber B strap for a summer/pool/beach watch. Plus I can buy the Tudor from my AD and build some more history, for whatever that may be worth. With the Zenith I would be getting the El Primero movement and a super cool exhibition case back, plus I just really like the styling. For reference I’ve included my current collection, and the other piece I’m currently waiting on is a BLNR on jubilee. What’s everyone think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It’s known as the rare albino dial from Tudor/Rolex |

Ideally, the Zenith and the Omega. If not, then the Zenith. It’s a really nice watch.

BTW, the white dial Omega looks amazing on a white strap.
This is mine:

My vote goes towards the Seamaster as well. It really is striking in person.
I was offered the Tudor upon release and turned it down; it was better on paper than in the flesh for me. |

I love the seamaster but if I was choosing between it and the Zenith, I would take the zenith in a heartbeat.

The Zenith. Looks alone make it the winner for me.

White seamaster on a black strap is VERY nice. One of my absolute favorites. AKA "the great white".

Great thread! I, too, have been eyeballing both those chrono’s for months. Something about that Zenith El Primero. I am also partial to the Seamaster as I have a blue 300 M and just picked up a blue strap for summer beach, Waverunner etc. I love my Omega. So… the Zenith and save more for the omega!! I will say that Tudor White is cool too. Tough first world decisions. If I couls swing it I would have that Zenith even over a Daytona. But I can’t and just bought my wife a mint DJ 36. Happy wife….

Another vote for the SMP. Photos don’t do it justice. It really looks amazing in person. The most interesting overall watch in my collection.

I have a white Chronomaster due into today. Will report back, but I think that’s going to be the winner here.

Your main target is a nice chronograph. Go for the Zenith

I prefer and own the Tudor White Dial Chrono. Wears great and has a nice appearance to it. I split time between the bracelet and the OEM Bund Strap. I like Zenith and they have some great and historic watches. I have looked at and tried on several Zenith watches over the years but just never got the feel that it was the watch for me. I would do the Tudor and the Omega and not look back.

I would also go with the Zenith. Personally I'm not a fan of the Tudor layout. I also like the Seamaster, but between the two, the Zenith wins.

The white SMP is striking in person. I've almost bought it a few times. It stopped me in my tracks when I walked past it in the window at the Omega AD.

Does that Tudor chrono wear pretty thick? I love the pictures of all the Black Bays, but when I see them in person I’m always disappointed in how high they sit on the wrist. I’ve never seen the chrono in person though.

I’d get the Zenith. The Omega is sweet and all, but you could maybe still add it in like a year or whatever.

The Tudor for me.
However, for you, I would suggest you take all the numbers out of the equation, and what else you could buy, and focus on getting the watch you like the best. |

Yes want to add the Omega no matter what at some point; just a matter of how soon based on which chrono I end up with. |

You have some iconic designs, so I think out of the two, the Zenith fits better than the Tudor. It’s expensive, and I would probably also look at older El Primeros, but a great looking watch.

Out of those, the Zenith, and it's not particularly close for me. The rivet bracelet looks so cheap to me. Honestly, I like the Zenith more than the Daytona.

The omega 300m is really a fantastic watch and much bettter than the Tudor.
My advice get the omega, hold off on getting either the zenith or Tudor. Revisit in 6-12 months. Do not rush. |

I'd buy the Tudor and Omega over the Zenith. Zenith is great, superior to the Tudor IMO, but adding the Omega to the Tudor... I think that's the winning plan.

Zenith in a heartbeat. It's called the El Primero because that's what it is. A piece of horological history and a great watch. Technically not the very first, but in the trailblazing time frame and mechanically superior to the competition that narrowly beat it to the market - so much so that Rolex used the movement.
If you only want sub dials for the look of it, the Tudor will get it done for less, although any watch with an hour hand designed to obscure the subdials cannot be taken seriously as a chrono IMO. But as a style statement I'm sure it fits the bill for many happy owners. |

Seamaster, green on white strap. Add a Zenith if you must.
