2023 New Releases - I Think I Cracked It

Hello all,

I know there is already a thread for 2023 new release speculations based on the teaser video Rolex dropped, but I am creating a separate thread as this is a bit different.

I am a digital advertising/website nerd by trade, so I naturally am always poking around different sites in my free time. I have been monitoring the Rolex website for a while now, and on my most recent site crawl, I found several new pages returning 404 errors that I believe are the new models we will be seeing on Monday.

All of the following URL's are currently indexed to Google, but they are new (first crawls all this month), have zero or very few links pointing at them, and are valid URL's currently returning 404 errors:

Furthermore, most of these URL's have corresponding versions in other languages AND corresponding newsroom article URL's (including one speaking to the new submariner's waterproofness). Thus, it looks like we can expect to see an all-new Daytona finally, a new Submariner, new Day Date variation(s), a new 40mm Explorer, a new skydweller (wasn't expecting that), a new yachtmaster (probably in titanium) and a new oyster perpetual.

Of course, I have no idea what the variations will be, but I believe these are the new models we will see. Happy to see everyone's input on this, especially everyone's thoughts on the teaser video with this new information!

I just realized I forgot to list one of the URL's:

This is not a model I am familiar with (the 1908), but perhaps this could be a new Cellini? I believe 1908 is the year Rolex was founded, but I haven't seen a specific model referred to as "the 1908."

So this is perhaps the most intriguing. It could be a new line of dress watches.

Rolex registered 2 new trademarks last week:

"Perpetual 1908" and "Oystermatic"

"Oystermatic" is a 32xx movement with battery?

Doesn't directly mean anything for this year release schedule, or even next year. Could be as simple as a potential future project and they want to lock down the name while the locking is good.

1905: Hans Wilsdorf founded Wilsdorf and Davis in London.

1908: Wilsdorf registered the Rolex brand name and opened an office in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

OP, hopefully you will be kind enough to help out the board for the 2024 releases.

You did a fantastic job last year!

He's saying he cracked the url syntaxes for when the pages go live. Also, it shows the model names of the new pages suggesting what the lineup may look like.

All of these URL's are either 404 errors (meaning the URL is indexed, but the actual page itself isn't published in the backend of the website), 301's (meaning the URL is redirected to another URL instead of directing to the content on that page), or 'Access Denied'/'Prohibited' (meaning something is blocking access - could be a plugin, a specific parameter, database block, or a host of other things being used to shield the content from being viewed).

These are all URL's that Rolex has submitted to Google to be indexed, but they have taken some measure to block the content.

This is what I am curious about. How do we know this?

404 errors are usually generated because of wrong URLs.

It's remarkably common for devs (or even SEOs sometimes) to not properly "no-index" a page or pages. Could be related to how things were or were not no-indexed. When large sites get larger, many URL issues can bubble up. Could be that simple. Google has also been known to treat the no-index call differently than predicted/expected. Lots of possibilities.

I will say, I've gathered substantial competitve BI over the years paying close attention to things like this. Not saying that OP is absolutely right here, just that the premise is sound.

A 40mm Explorer? I guess the 36 wasn’t giving them enough sales if that’s the case

This would be fantastic and what I'm actually hoping for. As Adrian Barker pointed out, this would turn the Explorer from a watch ( well, two watches, sort of ) into a product line.

A white dialed Exp 1 at 40mm would have me texting my AD within seconds of the announcement.

My only wish is for them to wake up to the modern world and include glide-lock and not just EZ link on watches that won't necessarily go for diving.
