2013 ceremic Sub ....is this worth getting at $10,200?

Hi all

Been negotiating this deal which comes with box/papers (dated March 2013). It's in original unpolished condition and runs cosc but no servicing done yet.

I have a pending offer for $10,500. Some light swirls ,etc on case and bracelet but nothing directly visible. However, from a close up picture, the cyclops seems to have hairline scratches ..again not obvious during wear but it's there. Hence seller has agreed on this price as the last gen is still averaging about $12+.

Even though seller says watch is running cosc, am I still supposed to send this to Rolex for a service or will last me another couple of years at least? Also, does the cyclops require a full crystal replacement from Rolex? On hindsight, I guess if I have to do a full service myself later, I guess the deal is no bueno?

Thoughts? TIA !

You may want to ask yourself why the seller is willing to reduce it by $1,500 because of some hairline marks on the cyclops when it would get replaced along with the crystal during service anyway. Make sure you buy the seller here not the watch.

Couldn’t agree more with Rick. Always buy the seller.

My opinion - A 10 yr old watch will need a service. Figure in another $1K for that. The price isn’t too bad but you might look for other examples that already have a service which allows you to judge the overall condition post service (ie polishing, and overall cosmetic condition )

Any reason you aren’t picking up a new one for a lot less money from an AD? You might have to wait a bit but the watch will be brand new w full Rolex warranty. Kinda worth the wait in my opinion.

^ I only have 2 ADs in my locale and only has any interest but flat out told me that they are STILL backfilling sub orders from 2019 (and I don't have purchase history). Even with a Tudor purchase, I'm looking at possible 2024 and then add in price hikes, $10k looks a lot better than $13k (CA taxes).

I guess I'll do a pass on this deal (price is good but it's just way too old and the cyclops scratch is another issue).

Thanks fellas!!

FWIW, I feel like that is high for a watch that will almost certainly need service relatively soon. Further, I may be a bit cynical, but I am inclined to believe a watch of that age that only has slight hairlines has probably been polished to some extent.

Is it possible to just walk into an AD and pick up a SS sports model now?

Am I reading this right?
You made an offer, the dealer accepted, and now you may or may not follow through?

Hairlines on the cyclops of a used watch (that I know is used and offered accordingly) isn't a deal breaker to me.
As for servicing. I have a 2008'ish sub and it's never been serviced - and I wear the crap out of it.

^ We've just agreed on the price but I haven't commited to buying yet. I'll be passing on this one though. Appreciate the responses lads.

Gee -- the way I was brought up agreeing on a price is the same as "commitment".

Let's not act as if the dealer won't sell the watch the minute someone walks in through the door willing to pay asking price. Sh`t happens, people change their minds. I'm not going to shell out tens of thousands of $$$ for a watch than I'm not sure that I even want anymore just because it might be "unethical" since we've agreed on a price. It's a tough world out there, you need to toughen up a bit with it too.

I would pass. Too many possible issues and with a service in the near future why not just look for a newer model without theses issues? The bezel also looks misaligned. When in doubt, don't, and I would not.

Looks like some spring bar pop out damage to the lugs. Fixing that without lasers would be a rounding exercise.

I say no to this unit but keep eyes out for another.
