What would you do in this situation?

Hey guys,

When you're trying to put your name on the list for a new watch, if your AD asked you to show them the watch you bought from their store to prove that you are not a reseller, would you do it? Or would it make you feel bad?

I never sold my watch, but was a bit frustrated when they asked..

Tell them “sure, on the condition you can show mutual trust by bringing me the ref I want within 6 months. Show me my order, I’ll show you my old watch.”

I wear them into the AD anyway, but if they ever inquired, I would be glad to demonstrate I’m genuinely a collector and have them still.

I think you miss the point.
The article is about proving you are not a flipper, not your worthiness.

OP - if you bought from them before don’t ask for another opportunity without wearing what you got earlier. If they see it on you they won’t ask.

Seems abit annoying, but apparently AD's are trying to clamp down on flippers, so I suppose this is one way of trying to do so

Each time you visit wear a different watch. This is what I do. And each time I visit we talk about the watch I am wearing at the time.

There is nothing wrong with the AD wanting to ensure you haven't flipped a watch they have previous sold you. My SA has told me they are very sensitive about flippers. In fact, I am high on my AD's list because they know I am a true watch enthusiast and not a flipper and he has told me as such.

Take a pic with your collection next to the day's newspaper. Proof positive.

No issue with this at all. All in favour of the AD doing this.
If you flipped your last one, you shouldn’t get the next one.
