Watchwinder question
I had a Orbita programmable watch winder for 20 years the Rolex president was set at 950 turns per day it died so I purchased a Orbita rotowind which swings the watch at 900 on the old winder I lost and sometimes gained 1second per day on the new one it lost 1 seconds per day for the first 2weeks the last few days it is loosing 2 seconds per day is this normal since it winds the watch rotowind

The Rotorwind system shakes the watch so it could certainly have a slightly different effect on the timing system from the typically rotation system.
Not sure that the difference you cite is significant.

What I have found is it really depends on the resting position of the watch. I can't speak for your watch winder, but mine (Boxy) always stops the watch at the exact same resting position. As such, I have played around with having the watch rest with the face up, face down, crown up and crown down. It really makes a difference. For example, one of my Sub's is ~2 sec/day fast when resting either face up or face down. But with the crown down it is only .22 sec/day fast. I have the majority of my watches resting face down. But my chrono's for whatever reason are best face up.
I've tested my watches over the past 45 days for accuracy. These are the results: Sub date - +.22 sec/day Datejust - +.75 sec/day Bluesy - +1.1 sec/day Tudor GMT - -1.0 sec/day Omega Seamaster - +2.62 sec/day Breitling Navitimer - +.62 sec/day Tudor Chrono - +.28 sec/day Daytona - -.62 sec/day With the exception of the Omega, I count myself pretty lucky. |
