Offered two datejust 36, which should I buy?

Hello
I have been offered two datejust 36
Option 1: White dial with gold
Option 2: Gold Fluted Dial
(See pictures)
Which of these two more rare/harder to get? I am looking for something unique.

The gold dial! It’s stunning! That’s the one I want! What does rarity have to do with it? Get the one you prefer, unless you are planning to flip it.

White is where it's at with the dial!
Champagne just looks old to me even with that dial.
BUT
What I think should not matter, buy what you like!

If you’re trying to buy ‘what is more rare’ then in the nicest possible way, you’re deciding about it wrong.

Which one appeals to you more?

The yellow patterned dial is beautiful in person. It’s the ‘pikachu’ yellow rather than champagne and compliments the two tone. It’s also a newer release so you could postulate there are less of them around.

I know which one I would buy. But it’s your decision.

As with most datejust 36’s Both are not hard to get via your AD. They are typically watches the AD offers you whilst indicating it will get you up that waitlist

Champagne dials actually make the watch look larger because the dial color just blends nicely right into the yellow gold bezel giving the illusion that the dial is part of the bezel.

I went champagne dial on my two tone Datejust and have ZERO regrets. I think white dials look best on watches with straps (whether it be leather or nato) rather than watches with metal bracelets.

If you’re looking for something unique, a TT Rolex DateJust isn’t it.

Buy whichever one you like the most.

The white dial. Although the gold fluted is new and ‘sought after’ IMHO it’s very fussy and won’t stand the test of time.

Simple answer anyone with any common sense would buy the one that the buyer wanted to own and wear.

I would go with the white dial. The champagne dial can be difficult to read.

Which one do you prefer? If you can't chose one you are either going to end up with both of them (either together or in succession) or you don't want either of them enough to commit. Either way, I can't tell you which one you like more.

Personally, between those two, I'd pick the white. But I'm one who prefers the most classic watch designs (and doesn't like too much gold).

When I read the OP, though, it sounds less like she's looking for "rare" in the sense of an investment/"quick flip" opportunity and more in terms of which she'll see fewer on wrists day to day. For that, I'd have to say the champagne fluted.

I have no idea production numbers on the two, but I do know (or can say with a high degree of certainty) that the white will have a much longer production run. As long as there's been a TT YG DJ, there's been a white dial version. But the fluted dials are fairly recent, and won't likely be around forever. Again, doubt that'll make it truly rare or collectable but there will be fewer of those out there in total.

I love the look of the white dial! I gave my son my '83 16013 with the lighter white/silver dial and I really miss that watch. It is a classic.

I'd pick the white dial. In fact I did. I own that exact DJ41.

I am not a fan of the wave dial, although it will be probably rare down the road. The very long road. Of the two, the white dial really pops to me, and I would take that combo over any other TT DJ. I love white dials. They too are rare in the Rolex world which is known for its black and champagne dials.

Welcome to the forum. More unique would be the fluted motif. White is more classic
