Pretty beat up but looks okay. A RSC service would be in order; that would make it far more sellable or wearable. Otherwise, as Lee said above. Sorry for your loss.

Serial looks like 6098K441. But not registering at bobswatches on serial lookup.

You won't be able to retrieve information based on serial number. Only RSC (Rolex Service Center) can.

As for the appearance, a full RSC service and refinish will restore it to like new condition and also give you 2 years of service warranty.

Non-professional models basic service costs around £500 / 900 AUD. You may need a new crystal, at a ballpark of £200 / 400 AUD as well as a new crown for roughly £100 / 200 AUD if not less. I'm not sure if there are any links missing from the bracelet too but those are also pretty inexpensive.

Excellent thanks guys. I think a service by qualified Rolex watchmaker in Perth Western Australia would be around AU$800, but that's OK!

Make sure he has a Rolex parts account so that no aftermarket parts will be fitted.

There are two RSCs in Australia; using an official service center will give you some assurance and a two year warranty which can be honored anywhere in the world. BTW, here the service is also 800 but in USD.

I read the whole thread, and the other one OP started about value on another piece.

If OP wants it authenticated, sorted and saleable then give it to RSC.

My son owned that other piece too, which was junk... I'll put this one into RSC.

I will put this Perpetual, which he wore, in for RSC at an authorised centre.

The only RSC is in Melbourne but any AD in Perth can send it to them.

Fonts look off compared to my Explorer and GMT which are noticeably more sharp but I do not own an OP so maybe they are different. As others have said take it to RSC to get a definitive answer. Sorry for your loss.

Decided to send the watch to Melbourne RSC, despite the length of time it will take - approx 8 to 9 months... Chose this as it's probably the best for cosmetic restoration and certification.
