What would you do if you been scammed?

Who would you file a claim with if the seller is in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. The seller did provide me with a tracking number and hopefully the watch is enroute. But I'm fearful it might not arrive.

Can you provide more details of the possible scam? Where you bought the watch, history/references of sellers, link to posting, payment details, etc.

Onkyo,

I purchased a Pam 104 from Paneristi forum from theDiver. The transaction went smooth. I watch was shipped out last week and sent expedited USA which is like parcel post here in the states. The seller gave me a few reference and one person replied. I sent a wire to his bank RBC.

Current tracking information is
2009/08/08 11:09 International shipment has arrived in the destination country
2009/08/05 20:51 International item has left Canada
2009/08/04 17:47 OTTAWA Item accepted at the Post Office

So I'm keeping my finger cross.

Reason why I'm nervous, a few day later there was another post to sale this another watch.

My purchased
http://www.network54.com/Forum/35339...MINT+(TheDiver)

Money sent via wire from my bank to his RBC bank. Purchased over at Paneristi.

I'm afraid cause of the following post by the seller.

http://www.network54.com/Forum/35339...LNIB+(TheDiver)

According to the tracking number I received. My package is currently
2009/08/08 11:09 International shipment has arrived in the destination country
2009/08/05 20:51 International item has left Canada
2009/08/04 17:47 OTTAWA Item accepted at the Post Office

I should find out in a few days.

In regards to reference I was able to get one response by his previous buyer.

I did a deal on a Panerai timepiece. I was the buyer and he was up in Canada, the watch was as described and shipped in a timely manner. I would gladly deal with him again.

Kindest regards,

Keeping my finger cross.

Toreli,

I will definitely keep you up to date. My plan of action is to wait to see if package arrive. Take picture of packet when it arrives. I was going to file a policy report with the Ottawa fraud department. I will also open a case with IC3, which will work with corresponding goverment party to investigate. And now I have Toreli to help.

TIA.

I suggest people do the DD's people buying

make sure the Bank account provided bears the SAME name as the purchaser ( if you're a buyer )
As for not only cell but home phone number
Get home and work address.

There have been many documented scammers who are working out of Canada these days ( watchnet.com under deal watch )

If you're a seller:

Verify with your bank to make sure the fund was wired and not a check deposited to your account.

Toreli,

I'm still waiting for the mail to be delivered. Package is still showing pending. The seller did respond to one of my email but hasn't communicated with me via phone.
"Hello Sorry I was away

Did you get the watch ? you should of gotten it some days ago......."

I'll keep everyone posted.

This is the perfect example why I don't do business internationally, just too much of a risk of it being a scam. If you deal within the United States, you can make payment through paypal, which has a pretty easy system to deal with in regards to scams, as well as contacting local authorities an/or FBI regarding the matter. I have a bad feeling that it will be pretty hard to recover the funds. I have heard a story similar to yours, basically the individual was purchasing a PAM 000 from Toronto (buyer residing in the USA), and he got a small envelope box with the DVD case of 300 (Spartan movie) with no CD inside of it. But he paid through paypal, and after the investigation, he got the funds back. Sometimes it's absolutely worth it to pay the 3% fee for that extra peace of mind.

Always stay within your watch buying family....... trips to the outside are at your own risk.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
