YG vs Rose Gold

What’s everyone take on YG vs Rose Gold?

I just sold a piece and in hurt for my next one. Currently interested in Daytona Rose or Yellow Gold.

Also considering SMP in gold, love the look just seems a lot to pay for a Omega. Perhaps a used one if good discount.

Personal choice a lot of it has to do with skin tone.
I went YG myself.

A lot depends on your skin coloring. If you’re lightly complected, YG likely will look much better on you. I absolutely love RG, but it goes poorly with my Swedish-influenced skin color.

I bought RG DD40 and absolutely love it now I'm also considering a YG Daytona so I have both options but if it was one or the other only for me it's RG hence why I bought that first.

I agree skin tone is a factor. Rolex makes the best YG IMO.

When its new, I like the hue of rose gold. But i think the RG of rolex does not age well. Heres a pic of my RG daytona. Got it 2015. Its nearing yellow gold.

But personally I love yellow gold as a personal preference. Name: 20230526_204405.jpg

I actually noticed it when I got a little bit on the heavier side when installing the new link. I noticed the newer link was of a different hue.

Ill post more pics of it on natural light tomorrow. I posted a pic i just took now beside my Rootbeer. Color is way off.

(by the way watch was purchased new 2015. Took good care of it hence still has some stickers on it)

Here is my Sky Dweller RG 2017 vs my Sky Dweller RG 2020. Noticeably different in hue. Cant tell much with the photos i took just now tho

I also attached a picture of the '15 RG daytona compared to my '22 Rootbeer RG. This one is loads different. My Daytona is nearing yellow ish gold? Whilst the Rootbeer has a light copper tone to it.

But definetly for a "new ish" watch (2015) i expected it not to have aged that much since they are advertising it as "everose gold"

But honestly im not bothered by it. It is still clearly rose gold compared to yellow.Name: 20230528_013430.jpg

your sky dweller you can still see as rose, but that daytona is something else. ive never seen a rose watch turn that yellow. im seriously thinking about getting the rose sky with slate dial, im going to have to do a little more thinking now though. didnt realise the rose could turn that much. thanks for the pics

Seriously, it can't turn that much.

If it has, it's a warranty return due to a production failure.

All less than pure "golds" will oxidise to some degree, causing a change in appearance. Its unavoidable. A refinish or indeed any process to remove the oxidation will reverse the change.

It still has the stickers on.

Do you ever wear it and where is it stored?

Just the opposite YG will get lighter over the years, Everose, hint the name per Rolex will stay the same color forever...

Rose gold is very nice, but I personally prefer the classic YG. As someone else mentioned....it really does depend on skin tone and what will look best.

Another thread awhile back someone mentioned they were wearing a full RG DD. A non-watch person saw it and made a comment to him......"I didn't know Rolex made watches out of copper!" I can't seem to forget that post each time I now see a RG piece. Lol.

My 2002 rose gold ( one of the first and not ever rose ) day-date does appear like yellow gold even when stored in the safe. However, it's just on the surface and with the most gentle polish turns back to it's original colour. A gentle rub with some toothpaste does the trick !

This “yellowing” of Rolex RG over time is actually making me want RG now. Or I guess I could just stick to YG.

Back before covid, YG is super easy to get, in fact, back in 2019, i walked into a AD and there it is, a YG Daytona and the sales guy was pushing me to buy it lol.

So it will be a bit of a wait I guess with YG or RG Daytona.

Oh how we have become allergic to a watch that is showing some character and age over time. Appreciate the beauty!

Yellow. Too much copper in Rolex' RG. Dimms the sheen. Vibrancy sadly gone.

I prefer the look of YG in general, but it depends on the reference and the dial. If

I would go RG, but it is just my personal preference.

Experiences differ, my RG SkyD 2019 has not changed one bit in hue.
As nice today as it was back than.
Unlike my YG it doesn’t even tarnish, seems totally inert.
Sauna, pools it just doesn’t care whatever I throw at it.

I find the RG a little more subtle and prefer it for all models but the Day Date.
That must be a YG imho
