75th Anniversary SMP Leaked

These were posted on reddit but have been removed since...appear to be commemorating 75th anniversary of the Seamaster. No wonder Omega has been so quite.

The size appears to be 41mm, has a gradient pattern which I absolutely love and HEV seems to be more tucked in.

Its an ode to the past with modern take. Why would it be groundbreakingly fresh?

The bezel appears to be fully lumed also. Images are very dark however.

Wish I could pinpoint what it is that I don't like about the SMP bracelet.

Might tickle my fancy if that dial is really a gradient dial.

Anyone gonna mention that the 8 appears off-center?

Very cool! The Seamaster in general is one of my favorite watches / product lines. I've owned many over the years and have three currently, which I'll always keep. One of those is vintage and I'm excited for the 75th anniversary.

However, I can see how it might not be for everyone. For the collector's who can justify owning many of basically the same watch, this will be another opportunity.

If they fixed the bracelets on the 300 I’d own 3 or 4 of them. As it stands, I own zero. The bracelet on the new Speedy 57 is awesome and I bought one. Same with the 300 retro ones. Why Omega continues to sabotage the 300 with that bracelet is beyond me.

It’s all a bit of a yawn for me. They keep pumping out limited editions which look virtually the same. I bet this will be priced at around £7 grand while you can still get the normal for 5. I find the 42 a smidge on the big side, so this may be a slightly better fit at least.

I stand corrected - but this will be one of those that they release a dribble of probably. I don’t see being able to walk in and buy one.

Will be interesting to see how it’s priced compared to the regular.

Unlimited Limited editions. It’s what made Panerai great

But Rolex did more than 1mm on the new sub...they redesigned the lugs, added full AR coating on the bottom crystal, brand new movement with higher power reserve and this is how the prev gen should have been.....They basically self corrected a mistake they made with the prev gen and got it better.

Omega smp is literally the same with the same 80s non taperered bracelet and a dial color possibly copied from Seiko's newer releases (the gradiant blue). And those fugly skeleton hands.

And Omega has pretty much given up on the gmt segment together. Rolex is pretty much the king when it comes to gmt watches.

However, if Omega is now moving to thinner cases, I'd love to see the planet ocean get this new design ...I owned it and sold it as it's top heavy and 43mm case is just too big for a lot of people. I'd love to get a new PO in a 41mm thinner case with a lumed bezel. I love the bracelet on the PO vs smp line.

Some of this is subjective. The non-tapered bracelet and “fugly” skeleton hands are excellent to me and many others. I wouldn’t want to see them changed on the Diver 300. Possibly tweaked in some way, but not changed altogether.

The GMT thing. Omega just refuses to produce what people clamor for. It's almost like everyone wants to spend their money on Omega, but Omega doesn't want it. They just continue to invest in models nobody is asking for, the green worldtimer for example. (not saying it's not a cool watch). Tudor does the opposite, which is why they are gaining market share at such a rapid pace.

Seriously though, If Omega made a 300M GMT with no HEV and a more modern bracelet for about 6k retail, they would sell like absolute hotcakes.
