Incoming: first Rolex

After being in contact initially around 9 months ago and following up twice in the last 2-3 months my AD has come through for me with the Yachtmaster 40 Rhodium dial that I had been looking for. I got the call nearly two weeks ag just as I had passed through security at Heathrow to go on a family holiday. Made the payment and now back from the holiday in collecting it tomorrow and can't wait.

This forum has been fantastic to help with some of the research and consideration I've gone through while I've been lurking in the background absorbing as much as I can. I'm sure this will just be the start of my Rolex collection. Photos to follow after collection 😊

Wristshots

Sorry it's taken a little time to upload these today. The watch is beautiful and I love the way the dial changes in the light and it's perfect for me being able to dress it up in a suit or down casually so easily. First but definitely not last Rolex.

My wife who so far hasn't been so into watches joined me to collect it and tried on a Datejust 31 and is now keen on this so I've not only added to my own collection with a first Rolex I might had started her off too.

First go at uploading images so I hope I've done this right.

Looking great, man. The YM SS/PT was also my first Rolex. Enjoy.

That's still looking brand new. Looks great 👍

Have you had to do anything different to look after the platinum on the bezel Vs ceramic on other watches? I've seen some for sale that look rather worse for wear even at 1-2 years old!

Thanks! I've done nothing special in 8 years. I don't wear it like a beater, that's all. It's my most worn watch by far.

Those bad looking bezels online are the result of bad polishing to buff out scratches from wearing them like a beater. The frosted area should not be polished. The RSC will put the bezel to like new condition in an overhaul, with the correct sandblasted finish on the recessed areas and polished finish on the raised numerals, with the help of a special machine. Not a job for amateurs.
