2 for 1 Trade thoughts

Ok here we go.
The 2 watches I’m thinking of trading were purchased at MSRP, I’m thinking of trading my 116500 White and my 126710 (both bracelets) for the 126719 Meteorite. All 3 watches are full sets and I would be adding both bracelets for the 126710 plus 3k cash.
I have been waiting patiently for the Meteorite from my AD and I still believe she will come through but I was scared when they recently discontinued the Meteorite dials from the other watches in the catalog.
Ok, let’s hear your thoughts.
Thanks

If money is not a subject I would keep 116500 and only trade 126710
126719 meteorite is my dream watch. ( see my username?)

I have pretty much what you have and I wouldn't do it. One, I think you'll regret giving up the 116500. I think it will be one to hang on to. Second, as much as I like the meteorite and precious metal (I've never owned either), that's a lot of coin wrapped up in one watch. It's also a little more flashy and I would be afraid of drawing too much attention. That's why I especially like the 116500. I doesn't scream Rolex, and if anyone does notice I figure they think it's a copy anyways. Just my 2 cents.

I agree everything you said except the flashy part. Meteorite dial isn’t really drawing too much attention in my opinion, and the white gold is not distinguished from steel

I'm biased in favor of the BLNR. The red in the bezel is a little much for me personally, even though I know it's the original color, etc. (I actually lean toward preferring all black on the older models). The combination of red and meteorite was the basis for my comment there. I do like the white gold for the added weight, however, but would definitely have to have it insured....

I would do this trade without thinking twice.
The GMT meteorite is on another level and the allure of a PM watch and than with this dial is just stunning.

This.

If my math is close you’d have paid roughly $35-36000 for a watch that retails for much more than that.

Meteorite is special, especially a meteorite Pepsi. If you’re worried about future value, I bet a lot more 116500 were made than meteor Pepsi’s.

I’d jump in a heartbeat.

My math shows about $15k msrp+tax for the Daytona, about $15k msrp+ tax for the 710+extra bracelet and $3k on top equals around $33k spent to acquire the 719 which retails for $43k and sells for nearly $60k.

This is a no brainer, but I'm questioning the valuations OP is getting for the two watches traded in. I would have expected more on top for a secondary market 719.

I was not completely sure on prices but my initial assessment still stands.

I understand both to be $14,999 or in that range. Then add tax and the 3K op has to add on top and he is still making money off MSRP for the 719. And it comes in as a grand total at 7% tax at $35,096.

To me a question is do you use or need the chronograph function? If not, I would do the trade. The GMT meteorite is one cool watch which is very functional.

In what way functional? To tell the time, for sure isn’t. Not that the white dial daytona is any better.

Not a fan of GMTs in general, but if a different PM meteorite watch, I’d consider it.

I own all three and are part of a a full 30 days on-wrist challenge along with all my watches.

So far the turn came for the 126719BLRO Meteorite and the 126710BLRO jubilee, the white Daytona will have it’s run.

Conclusions

126710BLRO
The jubilee is a very cool and comfortable bracelet, very scratch resistant. The black dial adds a very nice contrast against the Red/blue bezel and the steel plus the polished&brushed jubilee. Overall a great watch.
I kept it on the wrist for 43 days instead of 30.

126719BLRO Meteorite:
- the lack of contrast of dial against hands makes telling time nearly impossible.
- same lack of contrast of the dial against the WG case.
- the Meteorite dial and the blue/red bezel have little in common and do nothing together.
- because of the WG case weight, the sharp edges leave deep marks into the skin, making this watch less comfortable than others.
27 days with it and couldn’t resist anymore, swapped it for the next one (15500ST AP RO). So it will probabil see very few days on the wrist until it reaches the requested 3 years of ownership and take the CPO road back to Rolex.

I got onto the hype train with the Meteorite and was wrong. But hit it right with the jubilee 126710BLRO so there’s little telling before trying

So no, I would not do the trade.

That’s exactly where I land in it as well. I was underwhelmed when I got to try one on. but to each their own

OP, have you handled one in person?

I've only tried on a 126719BLRO Meteorite, but the parts in red were my exact observations too. Never understood why they paired that dial with the loudest (and totally unrelated) BLRO bezel. Just doesn't work for me.

So no I wouldn't do that trade either.

its a tough one. But if the valuations someone above has done are correct (i.e. in total you are giving up 33k) to get a watch that retails for 43k (and market value is 60k) then it seems like a good trade.

But it depends on if you really like the watch. Personally I wouldnt do the trade.

Personally love the BLRO meteorite so I would say do the trade.

One thing to potentially bare in mind... if we believe the reason for the reduction in the SS BLRO is due to manufacturing issues, then I wouldn't hold your breath for the WG BLRO from your AD. Which means if you do have your heart set on the meteorite, now is the time to pull the trigger IMO.
