I think this was the picture (and watch) that was displayed on the article "The Watches of the Henley Royal Regatta 2023" which the OP is referencing.

Can we say we are surprised? The standard of HDK has dropped so much that it’s now more of an e-commerce site. The good days of Ben, Carra, SJP and Jack were the best. Now I don’t even know who is doing what on the site anymore.

Hodinkee is now nothing more than a web-based in-flight magazine. And although Ben occasionally wrote somewhat interesting pieces back in the day, he has become an insufferable blow hard since he sold the site and made his money.

Just curious, what's so obviously wrong with them? Not saying because they look "right" but the light reflecting just makes it too hard to tell (for me at least).

And speaking of light... based on the color when the light hits, the hands appear to be real WG to my eye, but again, a bit hard to tell anything.

Terrible fake and very embarrassing on Hodinkee’s part. It’s more than the hour markers that are wrong.

Isn’t the case to big compared to the bezel? The bezel falls entirely within the inner lines of the case.

Agreed with dannyp. The pictures are not very clear for authenticating.

oh I dunno... seems pretty clearly fake to me. bezel font, minute hand, crown guards, all look very off.

agreed—it’s a big lapse on H’s part, especially on the off chance that that gentleman didn’t know he was wearing a fake watch.
