Buy a Rolex Explorer 36mm TT to Purchase Rolex Starbucks

Hi all.

Visited an international Rolex dealer and saw a Starbucks in the shop window. Enquired about the Starbucks and was told it is possible to purchase, only if bundled with an Explorer M124273-0001.

I know this is technically frowned upon by Rolex, but it was actually refreshing to see a dealer be up front and honest with me, telling me what I need to do in order to acquire the piece that I want, rather than the games the UK ADs usually play.

Can anyone from UK tell me what the list prices are for the 2 watches? I am seriously considering it.

What is the current resale price of the Explorer 36mm TT? It's not a watch that I want, and I'm not looking to make any profit on it. I would be happy to get list back just so I can get the Starbucks.

Thanks

That doesn’t seem like a terrible deal if I’m being honest. I’d bet you could get retail on the explorer or within $1000 which is cheaper than going gray

A Rolex Starbucks? The nicknames are getting increasingly trashy. :(

Just in an AD and overheard the SA was telling a customer that the nicknames were from people on the watch forums, not from Rolex and most customers have never heard of them. LOL

When you add them in the search on ROLEX.COM they do appear first.

Exactly what I was thinking when I read the title, “Rolex Starbucks” ….. I’d be embarrassed to even say that.

You'd get about £7k back, I presume there is Tax where you are and the Starbucks will be more expensive... Name: Screenshot_20230703_124708_Samsung Internet.jpg

Thanks for this. Going by the exchange rate, the Explorer is working out at around £10,950.

So looks like it's 1k more expensive to begin with.

The Submariner is working out at around £10,050.

What's the list for the Sub back home?

£9100 so £950 more.

Then on the explorer you will lose about 4k, so it's cost you about 14k to get the Starbucks....

Explorers seem to be one of if not the most readily available models to purchase, so I wouldn't expect secondary market resale to be very good.

I love the candidness of the AD. That's cool, even though I wouldn't take that deal. I wouldn't wear that TT Explorer if you bought it for me and covered the shipping.

It's not frowned upon by Rolex. Rolex don't care.

I would not buy a watch I didn't want to get a watch I wanted but it's your money and your choice. If you think it's a good deal you should take it.

Sounds like they have having trouble shifting TT Explorers. This would explain why my AD had one in the window for sale last week.

Like a criminal telling you what he's going to do to you before he actually does it. Refreshing, indeed.

Rolex does care (or at least makes an effort to). From the Rolex Pricing Policies section of their website:

"The sale of Rolex watches above the suggested retail price, as well as any tie-in sale, is not permitted."

But I agree, don't buy anything you don't want but it's a catch 22 with ever being allocated anything special so do what you want with your money OP.

One could technically interpret that as a non-Rolex tie-in sale. After all, it does say “watches” (plural) .

At least giving you the option.

If you could obtain the Explorer with stickers intact, perhaps you could do better on resale?
