haha, there's nothing to congratulate. It was not for sale and only for customers to look and admire. I only managed to fiddle it before it is gone.

This is just fabulous - Thank you for posting the pics. I agree this is more "retro" than I had thought it would be. Alas, I'd be more than happy if this was the last watch my AD ever sold to me!!

I think the biggest issue here isn't going to be pure production numbers - Rolex will produce plenty, just like they do with every watch they make. The issue is going to be that many ADs walk this out the back door or have an arranged secondary market sale. I see very few of these getting into the hands of actual collectors, and that's going to make it all the more exclusive and elusive.

Who will the secondary market sell them to, if not to actual collectors?

I'm not taking the bait on who is a collector versus who is not, and I'm not going to argue the pros and cons of the secondary market as we all have our own opinions. Sorry if my choice of words is confusing, but my point is I feel few of these will land in the hands of collectors at MSRP. The financial reward is going to be far too great to pass up and many ADs will get these placed out on the secondary market. At that point, as you suggest, it's every crypto-bro, collector, Instagrammer, watch aficionado...whoever/whatever...for themselves!

The $175 to $200k range seems to be frequently discussed as the market value of this one. I think that's way too low. If you are a Daytona fan, THIS is it. Add all the Rolex lore and hype and there's no reason this isn't $350k+ just like you see for some of the crazy APs and Patek models that are exclusive.

This watch is nice, better looking than expected and at MSRP I like it. But IMO one would have to be an absolute loon to pay $350k for this instead of a nice 4 digit Daytona.

I would agree with you on this, at least at my AD who is a large AD and the only one in the State. They have three locations, and I would suspect that they see at least one of these.

Based on my conversations with the manager, who I have known for twenty years, regarding what they consider the spend to get a SS Daytona at MSRP, I would guess that they would offer this piece to the customer with the largest spend history. From conversations with him on this I am guessing a minimum of a half-million dollars and maybe even more to get one at MSRP. And believe me, watch spend doesn't count.... it's diamonds and other high-end jewelry, and they have the clients that fit into this category.

It isn't something I would even get the opportunity to see. Even though I have spent $75 - $100K on watches in the last few years, I am chicken-shit to them and are basically a waste of time to them.

Understood. Yeah, MSRP is meaningless, thankfully the market rules.

Heard from an AD that folks were offering up 200k just to jump to the front of the list. This is a high value watch.

You got to be kidding with the 200k and more prices. What a joke.

I'm just repeating what I've had a couple of secondary dealers tell me. The first few that hit the secondary are going to be astronomical in price. I'd bet anything they will be well over $250k. Secondary dealers always are giddy to test the market with a new model and we see what it will bear. We see this today with $35k+ green SkyDwellers and $25k+ OP Celebration dials. It's very hard to say what prices will settle at, but it will have to do with production numbers which nobody knows what that is going to look like. I truly am crossing my fingers that the production will be in line with Meteorites, JMs, etc.

The LeMans is a perfect storm. History, heritage, hype, demand...And add whatever other superlatives you want.

Obviously I don't think this makes anybody happy. I know it bothers me, but there's just nothing you can do about it other than hope Rolex might step in. And as several people have stated above, they very likely will not as there is no evidence they ever have.

So, we are left to the free market. Some will get insanely lucky, some will bite the bullet, and most will be forced to move on.

Agree. AD owners will probably keep a few for themselves so I think very few will be sold to customers at retail.

In the US I don't think an AD would ever present a watch like this to a client, in saran wrap or however they showed it to you.

I’ve never seen watches at AD fully wrapped in plastic like that. Odd
