GMT..anniversary?

Do we think there will be a 70th anniversary for the GMT, next year?
(Platinum, jubilee, with a 'sunburst' ice blue face, might be nice. What bezel though?)

Someone must have heard from their AD?

Apologies if this is an old chestnut.

GMT is their final older model that hasn't been updated so I suspect either next year or for 75th is a good bet. They did just release the new grey and gold so it may be a while yet.

But is that not the 69th anniversary edition?

Chapter ring gilt in the current case would be something

I think it would be awesome if they did. A white dial would be sublime, not that I could ever get one, but still.

A fitting homage to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the original 6542 would be a 126710BLRO on a brushed Jubilee. I expect if they do something commemorative it will be lavish, hard to get and expensive.

If it's the "cosmopolitan" as Rolex.com says on their landing page, then I say "Bring the applied Crown logo to the dial."

That would be a watershed update, dare I say correction to the repositioning as the Cosmopolitan watch.

My preference would be a 41mm, matte dial, smaller bezel font, with a solid matte black bezel, and a red hand — perhaps a gilt radial dial or something to hark back to the origins.

A blend of these two would be just right — of course, none of that will happen.

The all black w/ green 24hr hand is my favorite in my collection.
But I think Rolex will keep a two-tone bezel from now on.

41mm coke bezel is my bet.

* I think it’ll have thinner lugs than this render

Curiously, the coke is the only gmt iteration I don’t like. I don’t know why, but it’s not my jam; I actually sold my Tudor gmt in part because it’s blue is almost black in most lights. I suspect you’ll be right, though!

In terms of visibility, the green hand isn’t much use (made worse by the lack of AR coating). The red hand is far easier to read.

I think we should expect submariner like updates. 41mm with thinner lugs. Maybe a coke bezel to replace the hard to make pepsi bezel.

I am predicting an updated case just like we got for the sub on the 70th. Smaller lugs and I am all in!

I'd give it a lumed, sapphire (flat & sloping just like the ceramic - not domed like Blankpain or Grand Seiko) bezel insert as a nod to the bakelite original

That would be perfection. 48 clicks, if you don't mind.

Rolex, please
