I've found most prolific vintage Rolex collectors don't post often on IG (with the exception of those that are now "dealers" or buy/sell often).

I have to admit, it's a great platform to find unknown references and get early dibs on things that might be offered soon.

It's hard to point to where "great pieces" could be viewed. A lot of watch scholarship is based on the study of images first (before holding in your hands and inspecting) and going to the FS section here, VRF and on known dealer sites is probably the very best combo.

For more obscure watches (M90 from Movado for e.g.) it's best to subscribe to tags on IG (e.g. #movado, #movadoM90, #M90Movado etc.) so that when one pops up either as a posting from an owner or as an IG only sales offering, you are likely to see it in your feed (not guaranteed but often results in interesting "finds").
