Smudge on rubber strap

I have a small black smudge came from a permanent marker. I tried soap with toothbrush but no luck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Smudge on rubber strap

If the Goo Gone won’t work it could make a citrus oil larger slick mark. You could make it worse. That’s it’s base solvent.

If you are careful, Goof Off has a more volatile solvent.

But before you go for it in a conspicuous area of the strap, try an experiment.

Take the permanent marker and make a small stroke on the underside of the rubber strap. Let it dry. Then use a Q-tip soaked with either solvent to see what works best. If neither works then seek another solution.

But at least the fail won’t be visible.

I agree with 77T. In my experience Goof Off is a bit more unforgiving. Soap and hot water and time will erase it I think.
