Does everyone hate the puzzle dial or are there any fans?

Does everyone hate the puzzle dial or are there any fans? I personally happen to be a fan. I dont understand the hate for Rolex coming out with a new and unusual for the brand dial. Its not like its the only dial they ever made. Theres plenty of options so I dont understand all the hate.

Any idea when they will be readily available on all markets?

I think a lot of Rolex owners don’t realise it but they are ‘gatekeepers’ of the brand. They don’t seem to like it when something new and funky comes along.

It’s human nature to resist change, especially for a brand like Rolex and it’s followers that appreciate models like the Submariner, DD and DJ, where little change in designs can be noticed over many generations.

A bit like Porsche enthusiasts who don’t like their 4x4 offerings.

I was actually reading your comment and it reminded me of BMW owners. Ive had different BMW’s now for over 10 years and on the Bimmer forums they are always unhappy with every new car design that comes out. It reminds me of when Jay-z said ‘Complaining you want my old shit? Buy my old albums’

Gatekeeping? I don’t think you’re using gatekeeping correctly here. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and disliking a product or set of products doesn’t control or limit access to a Rolex watch…

You can be funny for all the time, or sometimes or rarely. But in my opinion to try to be an infant in the high-end premium - or let it be the so called affordable luxury - market is IMHO something what I would used to call silly, because this lifestyle is very far away from the not very young Rolex fans.

I understand Rolex that they want to give something to the gen Z, but probably this is not the best way for you to try to look trendy and funny in the same time you wear a business dress code.

Anyhow, I have no problem with my Moonswatch, or even the Blancpainswatch - except the pain to look for these -, so I have no problem with the Rolex Oyster&Pop cooperation too. My only problem is, that I still can't imagine an outfit for this watch, except a clown suit with some balloons

I like them very much, will be extremely difficult to get via an AD and pretty sure premium on grey market will be extreme

The arenas you would expect to see these are Vegas, a Lakers game, music awards show.

It generates conversation, and will be photographed on the wrists of pop media celebrities, much like the comments generated surrounding Tom Brady’s recent selections were.

I think that will be the goal, and they’ll be wildly successful in it.

Have a chat with an AD and they’ll explain which shelf the puzzle dial sits on.

I’m not a fan of these odd releases. The celebration dial doesn’t bother me - it still functions perfectly well the way the watch was intended to - it’s just colourful and some people like that so fine. My other half loves it.

But what’s the point of a day date that doesn’t tell you the day or the date? Seems like a waste of a good movement. Plus I assume in time emojis will have had their day and it won’t age particularly well.

Not true - you can assign a day of the week and date to each emoji. Then the day date performs it’s function. No one thinks of this

Sounds like a lot of work and let’s be real, is anyone really buying any DD to know what day of the week it is?

Not my cup of tea and would not buy one at any price, but many today buy hype to wear it regardless how it looks.Afraid all the new type dials look more like micky mouse watches to me than a Rolex. If I wanted a watch with a dial like any of these types of dials I would buy a plastic Swatch.

I really like it.

Rolex is so conservative that something like this is just ... so surprising.

Wonderful.

It would be awesome if it functioned as a real Day Date.

They seem so out of brand character almost trying be too juvenile of a look unnaturally. I also detest the Marvel Comic theme AP watches and feel it takes away from the brand as a whole. I am certainly not that old to understand the “idea” of these watches but they come off making the brand seem too “needy” and artificially whimsical.

Not a fan at all but to each his own. To me it is a rather silly watch to spend that much money on it.

Personally I’m not a fan of it. Applaud the efforts though to do something a little different & step away from the perennial dullness of the sub aesthetics, or to pop a couple of colours on a gmt bezel so it gets a ‘nickname’ that keeps it popular.

Rolex has a great range of products with different aesthetics & sizes, so we’ll all have our different faves & hates. Be happy with your own choices, & not be bothered what everyone else thinks.

I don't hate anything. I think the puzzle dial DD is a stupid looking watch but what others do with their money is none of my business.

Pretty much this. Hate is a strong word for a watch. Life’s too short.
