If you like the sport of boxing
Then you have to rent the movie "Tyson". It is extremely well made and held my interest the entire 90 minutes. Big thumbs up.

Finally watched it Saturday.
I was kind of thinking...'I know everything there possibly is to know, there's not gonna be anything new, revealing', since I've been following him since I was about 9 or 10...and I was right. It's still an excellent documentary, well done, etc. The only thing I didn't know was that Tyson had gonnorhea (sp?) before his fight with Berbick to win the belt. I wish there were interviews with Kevin Rooney, Teddy Atlas, since these guys shaped him throughout his career before the snake(King, not Givens) stepped in and ruined him. Also wish they went into detail about how his corner in the Douglas fight had no idea what they were doing, how they used a condom instead of an endswell to stop swelling, also how Don King used his tax attorney instead of a regular defense lawyer in the rape trial. All in all, an excellent movie/documentary, especially for the casual Tyson fan/observer |

What about how emotional Tyson got when referring to Cus. I also did not know about the gonorrhea.

THAT part was worth the price of the blu ray...never saw him get emotional like that, esp since Cus passed away in 1985...I guess brining back the memories triggered something in him..

Cus was all the family he ever really had. Imho if it weren't for him there would never have been Tyson as a champion.

But the snake slithered his way in to a 20, 21 year old world HW champion KID. Cus died, Jimmy Jacobs died, Mike wasn't close to Jacobs' partner Bill Cayton (one interview, 'I want 90% of my ashes thrown in Bill Cayton's face), King played the 'white man is out to get you' card, and it was all over. |
