Just received my RSC Estimate.

Last week I went to set the time on my 116619 and the crown along with the stem pulled out of the watch. Since the watch is 8 years old I decided to send it in.

Here is a copy of the estimate from Dallas.

I’m not sure if this is because this is a non warranty repair but this estimate is quite different from estimates I’ve received in the past. Looks like they no longer list every tiny little scratch and ding on the watch.

Estimated repair time quoted, 4 weeks. We shall see.

Are you having the case and bracelet refinished?

Hopefully that specific instruction gets to, and is understood by, the person actually doing the polishing.

It’s my understanding with RSC, you either opt for a polish or no polish. No such thing as specifying a light or heavy polish.

If you agree to a polish the technician will polish as they deem appropriate.

Here’s my Confirmation. Buff, not refinish. But again, who knows.

Yes, they told me this last Wednesday at RSC Toronto. They no longer allow you to ask for light or minimal polishing - choice is polish or no polish.

See post #21. Confirmation approved buff case and bracelet. I said it before and I’ll say it again, we shall see.

I’ll be curious to see as well. I’ve heard the same as @jgottsman, but I’m hoping that this isn’t the case for you

It would be interesting for Bas or Scott our tech experts, to chime in here.

Hopeful for you. But that might just be a way to make you feel better about the process

The fact is that Rolex will only do what's required to meet their standard.
If it needs a more intensive polish, that's what will happen.
If it only needs a light touch up, that's what will happen.
Look at it from their perspective.
After all, if they did a light touch up and left marks in the watch that the owner thought would come out with their idea of a light polish. It may leave it open to complaints of poor workmanship and all that goes along with it.

Bas is correct but I just wanted to add, it doesn’t matter what you choose to do as far as polishing/refinishing, the price is still $850.

If you specifically state you do not want it polished you'll get €170 off the price, which is a new thing as of March this year.

Did you drop it off at an AD, or did you ship it directly to the RSC?

I shipped it directly to them. I went the AD route awhile back and would never do it again. Rolex would not speak to me directly, all conversations had to go through the AD.

Now I speak directly with the RSC.

I’ve been in this situation before so I know exactly what you’re talking about. I also realized when I finally picked it up that my watch had been sitting at the AD for weeks after being shipped back to them from the RSC.

Subscribed. I'm anxious to see how this ends. It's been 13 years since my 16610LV was serviced at RSC Toronto. It's losing 7 seconds a day, and I think it's time for another visit. My conundrum is: To polish or not to polish. Any advice? Any experiences with Toronto polishing?

I had my Milgauss serviced.

It has stayed in my watch winder since as it is so perfect, that I can’t bring my self to wear it.

Some of the details in the bracelet/case are less defined now. If I were to do it over, I’d skip the polish and enjoy it for what it is.

I got my 16570 back in just 3 weeks from the Beverly Hills SC. The original estimate said 7 weeks, but I guess things were slow last month.

Thank you for sharing! I'm considering taking in my 16613 to the RSC in January, although I'm not in the states, and it's probably going to cost me double that amount...

I sent my 16710 to Dallas for a complete overhaul last month and it took 3 weeks from the moment they received it, to when I was notified that it was complete. Very fast!

Good to hear Mike. When I mailed my in, I said to myself, I’ll be lucky if I have it back for Thanksgiving.
