Akrivia x LVMH
What can it be? It seems like it is out of line for an independent to do such a collab. Cannot imagine Dufour collab with Swatch one day. (Although at the rate with Swatch collabs,it may be a never say never thing )
Maybe LVMH needs a desirable piece to sell more diamonds at Tiffany. |

Maybe the Arnaults will take a stake in akrivia the way Chanel’s owners put 20% in FPJ to firmly capitalize it.

^^^ GB is thinkin' right. LVMH could use the horological street cred.

I asked about this days ago when it was first posted on their IG. Have been told its a limited 10 pieces minute repeater, more info on announcement date. Already highly asked for by vvic's, with allocation yet to be determined.
Also there are more planned collabs with independents. |

It is a super complication with Tourbillon, minute repeater and chronograph. Plus a dial from Anita Porchet. I guess you can justify selling everything one owns and get one watch to rule them all. The only major negative is that it is an LV Tambour...
But, I am sure all 10 of the production is sold out by now. |

Translation Jean backed up the brinks truck to Rexheps house and implemented the Harry Winston opus model two decades later.

I'll hold back my own thoughts, yet movement hand decoration seems.....
. . Versus their other RR finishing. . .

I think it really misses the mark design-wise. Like the poster above, I'd rather an AK-06 which is also very unique aesthetically versus this.
This watch and the antimag one both seem kind of uninspired. |

Aesthetics are off. In other words it’s ugly.

Hideous and subpar finishing. Rexhep selling out it seems. And this is not going to create the buzz for LV they were hoping for.

Looks like typical mainstream Patek-grade finishing.
Which is obviously sub-par compared to what many know as 'normal' Rexhep Rexhepi hand finishing.

Now, a Patek MR is hand finished, but I'd say it would be at a step lower than the LV RR. Based on pictures is not so precise, but just my take. This is still very well finished. I don't care for the watch overall or the styling, but let's not overstate a decline in quality. |

^^^ you make a very good point, and yes you are right the LV looks consistently very, very good. Like many, was hoping we'd see....
...for lack of a better term.... Rexhep Rexhepi Magic Was hoping for a true mind-blowing tour de force with crazy hand finishing of an 'insanely amazing' designed movement. Along the lines of an RR X skeletonized MB&F-ish meets LV French 'artistic touches'. Imagine a skeletonized-ish RR..... Elegant beauty that draws in your eyes to admire the classic (or modern) French.... I'm a big-time LV fanboy, for many decades, so it does sadden me to say the above. LOVE the case the timepieces comes in. PS: Dual face is lovely, truly is, so how about rotatable lugs and quick-release spring bars. Just an idea. Peter Chong of Deployant will be taking photos of one very soon. May I please have some kind friendly leeway until his pics are online?

But magic from a collaboration is a big ask. I think of this watch as a high-quality learning step for Rexhep. Learning on watchmaking and business, plus he can think about investors and what he needs for his future watchmaking. Plus, as usual, after the reactions, collectors will gradually go nuts for these. |

This seems moreso a business decision, and one constructed post haste, rather than a true collaboration.

At $500k I would take quite a few Patek repeaters over this.

during the Asian crisis, PP 3939h auctioned for $180k. During 2007/08 $250k. Wait for the next market crash, patience may be rewarded but keep in mind today's cheap Dollars probably $300k for the 3939h. Plus today's modern larger sizes will obviously command more.
Added: Hmm, prices have been coming down recently. You could offer $300k right now for this 5978 Plat. Never worked with this dealer, so due diligence as it is Archives papers. No box. https://thekeystone.com/collections/...44100639719663 $250 for a 3979 yg in the UK with orig papers (and box?), have zero idea the dealer, says originally sold by WoS https://www.chrono24.com/patekphilip...id28668894.htm

I guess I can see why style wise one may not be a fan, but just curious what in the photos shows subpar finishing?

Maybe it is a matter of 'degrees'. The below seems more compelling, inspiring to my eyes. Look fwd to seeing Peter Chong's pics.
Yes, it could just be me, was expecting a beautifully artistic movement. Maybe I admire MB&F mechanical magic 'too much' and was hoping RR could create something truly magical with their incredible design and finishing work thanks to the very deeeeep pockets of LV. It may just be me, my expectations, especially at 500k and LV as Sugar Daddy. Lug flipping so both dials could be used is something I'm kinda surprised LV didn't incorporate. I like the bottom dial better... if that helps at all of understanding my own personal narcissistic insanity. Wonder if you can request a 'dial swap'? Wish Peter would publish his pics asap.

Love the compact 39.9mm by 12.2mm size that houses a mono-pusher chronograph, sonnerie and a tourbillon. My Romain Gauthier Insight Micro-Rotor is a 3-hander and it is 39.5mm with a very thick 12.9mm. Same goes for the revered Roger Smith watches at 13mm. It's impressive the LVRR has such a slim profile despite the complications.
The finishing of that hidden base plate, in my opinion, is better than the front but it's a pity it stays hidden behind the chronograph dial (only consolation is that dial is grand feu enamel). The crown and chronograph pusher are decorated with hand-hammering, a technique we see on the AKs. I can see some semblance of the Tambour elements particularly on the side of the case and I thought the integration was quite subtly done. Also, this is a worthy cause as the proceeds go to independent watchmakers to help with their start-up and tooling. Let's not turn every single thread into a Patek bashing thread. We can do better than that... |
