what should I buy? Daytona or Datejust 2
I can not figure out what to buy, it is between Daytona and Datejust 2
116334 Oyster Perpetual Datejust II, 41mm, stainless steel case, 18k white gold Fluted bezel, with Oyster bracelet 72210 or Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Stainless Steel Daytona is sporty but do not know if I get tired of Cosmograph what would recommend??? |

I would get a daytona and I DO NOT EVEN LIKE IT THAT MUCH SO THAT SAYS ALOT.
Rolex messed up with this 41 mm datejust. It is not a Rolex. It is a trend watch. |

I say daytona!, the black dial looks a lot better in person. Its a sport and a dress watch, the DJII not as much. Currently, it'll be tough I THINK to get a decent discount on a DJII just cuz they are new, buy the daytona now and BNIB DJII later, thats what i would do. Plus, the current dials on the DJII are plain weird (green romans??? blue tinted arabics???), it'll be a while before they come out with somethng normal or breath taking.

'differentness' of the DJ2 over the traditional Rolex design - to attract new buyers (ie. those who would not previously consider buying a Rolex). I don't like some (green romans? blue arabic? ) of it either, but my guess is that the average age of a Rolex buyer was going up too much, and the 'trendiness' of the new models is to try change this. I think Rolex would like to avoid being like Cadillac - where the age of the average buyer got to as high as 64. To OP -- the look/size and usage setting of Daytona and DJ 2 is not that different anymore, so just go for what looks and feels best on your wrist. Last edited by CKLinLA; 20 April 2010 at 04:12 AM.. I don't like Daytonas, but between your 2 choices I think you'd be better off with the Daytona over the DJ2.
You'd have to pay a premium for your DJ2 since it just came out and would still be in high demand, but in the long run IMHO the Daytona would hold its value better. |

The more I see of the DJII in person the more out of proportion it becomes to me, I think the TT is the best version, it seems to work better than the SS.
In SS it is more sports watch now, rather then dressy. I am one of those who actually love 36mm watches and do not think them too small at all, with this new size it looses something especially in SS! Also I find the script on the dial too small, it leaves far to much bare dial real estate for my liking. Though I have no use for Chronograph watches given your choice I would say considering the extra cost of the datejust now for a few bucks more (retail) you could have an iconic Rolex movement, one of the best in the world from what I have read..I would go Daytona |

Another Daytona vote as I'm now obsessing over them! I love my 36mm DJ but am not too crazy about the 41mm version.

Tough choice....
On the one hand you would have an iconic, classic, stylish and sought after worldwide Daytona. On the other hand, you would have a big Datejust..... Well, I'm sure you'll work it out.........

Datejust II
I do not like the Daytona for some reason. I do not understand their popularity. They look like a cheap breitling to me. Sorry Daytona fans. Loving my datejust II. Also, anything smaller than the 41mm datejust seems so darn small. My wife thinks anything smaller looks femine.
