Is it Just My Mindset?

At the gym today, I saw a champ wearing a Rolex Rootbear now I understand if this is a daily wear for some but is it proper as gym wear?

Not like I am against it, just concerned about picking up dents and marks.

Even though the GMT is a pilot's watch, I fly with the Garmin Air...

he's probably trying to pickup a date.

It’s their watch. They can do whatever they feel comfortable doing in it, it’s not for us to decide what’s proper and improper. They paid for it.

There used to be a guy that would regularly wear a 126613LB in my gym as well.

It’s a sports watch with some gold. It doesn’t need to be pampered.

It’s just a watch and why do you care?

I wear all my watches in gym, otherwise what’s the point owning them?

this, why take your watch off to work out in a gym? Sorry, but seems like a ridiculous question

I go to the gym to workout, not to impress others or pick up a date, but I'm also not a type A. I leave the watch at home; if anything I'd wear an Apple watch since I'm all about selecting the right tool for the job. Others can do as they please, but there's always 'that guy' posturing at the gym.

The CHNR / Rootbeer is very durable. Scratches happen over time, and if you wish it will be polished to like-new condition during the next service.

As much as I love to wear my watches, I could never lift weights wearing one. Most times I am wrapping my wrist for a heavy lift. On vacation I will wear my Rolex in the resort gyms but just doing some easy lifting to wake up the muscles.

I wear my Apple Watch when working out at the gym, but you’re just as likely to “pick up dents and marks” when emptying the dishwasher or doing any light household choirs in general. It just seems that way to me. Also, this is coming from one of the most outspoken advocates on here for wearing a G-Shock as a beater watch.

His watch his choice. I don't suppose he cares what anyone else thinks, nor should he.

Last month, on holiday, I wore my root beer everywhere.
The sandy/rocky beaches, hiking, swimming, deep sea fishing and you name it.
It was a champ at just about everything.

It’s individual preference.

If you bought a watch to wear it and couldn’t care about resell value then do it.

There’s plenty of guys at my gym who wear APs and other PM watches worth leaps and bounds above any steel Rolex. Some sit on a bike, some could bench twice what I can.

Who lays down the law of the land when it comes down to gym attire anyway?

If that guy is like me, he loves his watch and wears it all the time, not because others notice it but because he enjoys wearing it.
