Buy a 2018 Blusey still with stickers or wait for a new one

I've a big birthday next year and I've narrowed what I want down to a couple of watches.

I sold my 2007 bluesy about this time last year to get a Patek Calatrava Yearly calendar. It was my first Rolex and I've regretted it ever since. Love the Patek right enough and still think I did the right thing.

This morning I've stumbled upon a 2018 bluesy still with stickers priced the same as a brand new model. I'm not sure if I should buy the still stickered watch or wait for the call.

I've a very good AD I've been shopping with since 1997 and was told I'll most likely get this out of my other choices I requested however it would be a few months they just can't give me an actual date.

Thing is I think I'd not wear the stickered one and just hold onto it. The AD would remove the stickers during purchase of a new one as they've done with all my others.

Thoughts people

My first thought was to go new from AD. But there are things about the last generation I liked; like the movement, the gold lettering on the dial, and the fat lugs. Ultimately, new from AD would give me the most piece of mind.

The 11 series is my pick. I prefer it to the 12 series. You do you. If you have no preference a new one seems more logical.

I would wait, the bluesy is t the hardest watch to get from an AD.
Good luck

I'd replace the 2007 16613, 5 digit is by far the best Blue TT Submariner in my opinion.

I'd wait it out and hope your AD comes through.
If not, you can buy a BNIB 2023 or 2024 model in the secondary market when the time comes.

Wait for the one you really want and wear the thing to enjoy and put a smile on your face.

I you were tempted to buy as an investment, I doubt a stickered Bluesy 116613 would gain much value. Not worth keeping in a safe IMHO.

I would wait for a new one. I prefer the newer slimmer lugs, the bright white lettering as well as the wider 21mm bracelet compared to the older 20mm. It makes it sit better on the wrist.

Do you want to wear the bluesey or are you happy with just owning it?
If you don't want to wear it: buy the stickered grey.
If you want to wear it: wait for the AD.

I prefer the aesthetics of the 12 series, but the movement in the 11. The visuals are not really different enough so my money would go to the 11.

What I'm also thinking is it may say "Unworn with stickers" Yet I'd be really surprised if it hadn't been worn to some degree.

YIP! Deffo over thinking it now

I like the white text better, so I’d try to get a new one. They’re not that difficult to get.

Buy a new watch from your AD. Stickers can be put onto an older watch. Unless there is something special about the 5 year old watch, I would get the new one. It will have warranty and you know where it came from.

Yeah I've had time to mull it over since this morning and I think I'm buying just for the sake of it. I'll wait for the call is now my thinking.

Honestly I would check in and call today. Just check in every now and then. Stay fresh in their minds. Good luck!

I would buy neither as you liked your 2007. Why not look and see what you can find in the market for one like you sold. Not only would you save some funds, you would get a watch you liked. No NOS for me. Paying a premium for a watch that that does not bring a premium return on your money.

No need to buy a Bluesy from AD as it is already below retail if you negotiate. It will be well under retail or with some discount from AD in a couple of years if not sooner, as so many Rolex references will be too. Playing the game is not relevant now as hard references will still be hard to get, and 90% of Rolex references will be below retail soon. Not worth it.

True but with Rolex yearly price increases, in a couple of years, this watch used might be worth what it costs now new. Also, nothing beats buying a Rolex straight from the AD. Leaves no doubt about the authenticity of the watch and you get everything.

I would wait also to get a fresh watch with full warranty. I would also not care one bit about the stickers. They should be removed, and the watch worn.

They have a few subtle differences.

I prefer the gold text of the 11 to the white text of the 12.

Yet I prefer the case profile of the 12 vs the 11.

Also, the new movement, if that matters to you.

Granted they are more similar than different, it's not simply an old vs new model.

Got this one last week from my AD. I prefer the white text. Good luck with your decision

I'd wait. I've been seeing a lot of people getting them lately and I got one in a walk in.
