Black 16613 question >>>

I wonder if the black dial on the 16613 is exactly the same as the dial on the 16610 – of course except from the “gold” font
Same black color?

Hi Jesper,

Good question, pal!!! Although in the book of Physics on the chapter of Light and Colours, BLACK has been described as a non-colour, meaning the total negation and absence of all colours, I believe we can still have different shades of black....some perhaps more attractive than the others.

I can't really tell which black is better...the one in the SS version or the one in the TT version.

So I just play it safe and have the SS version with black dial and would take the TT one with a BLUE dial!!

Isn't white the absense of all color and black is the combination of all colors?

Close, but you've got them the wrong way 'round!

White is the combination of all colours (just think of light in terms of this) and black is the absence of all light, thus the absence of all colour. It's been a while since I've had to know this, but I believe that there are different shades of black. In colour theory, when you add black to darken a colour you create a 'shade', but by adding white you create a 'tint'. Something like that anyway...

Nope, neither is white.
Unusual, isn't it? Almost like the whole tomato/fruit thing.

Sorry for the slight hijack there!
Hell, I don't care if you call black a colour, I do...
BTW, stunning photos on your other thread, wow!

I wonder what the production process is for dials. If the measurements are the same across several models, do they make a standard 'base' dial, and then just add the respective markings to it? Or is each dial slightly different?

Thanks for your comment

I’m quite sure the dials on 16610 and 16613 are exactly same size and both made of the same material (brass). The dial size on SD, GMT etc are all different.
The question is if the black 16610 and 16613 are exactly the same? Maybe someone had both to make the comparison
