For sale is a near mint condition 41mm stainless steel Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute “AOPA,” The 809 is a 1.3 million serial, circa 1971 production, and is not accompanied by boxes or papers. The back of the case is engraved with an 806 reference number but was converted at the Breitling factory to an 809 Navitimer but utilized an 806 engraved caseback. The Breitling features a polished steel case with brushed sides and is accented by a bidirectional polished steel slide rule bezel. The Navitimer is mounted on an unworn OEM brown alligator strap which is backed with yellow calfskin leather and is secured by a polished steel OEM tang buckle. The Breitling features a black AOPA gilt dial with 24 hour painted zinc sulfide tritium hour markers and white tritium coated hands. The Naivitmer also features silver sub dial registers at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. The movement used in the 809 is the Venus Caliber 178, which was recently overhauled and is running well.
