Cape Cod & Rolex

What is all the talk about Cape Cods and Rolex.. What are they used for? I assume for polishing? Where do you get them and how do you use them?

You use them for the case sides, or the polished bits (mainly the case sides).

Order them online. Follow the directions...it's easy...just rub a little, and rub off the residue with a clean cloth. Cape Cod's are a very mild abrasive...that's pretty much all.

They are used for polishing the polished parts of the watch/bracelet. Never use them on a brushed finish because they'll shine it. You can get them from here:http://www.capecodpolish.com/product...02181583a5261d

I changed the link as mywatchmaker is out of stock. For brushed surfaces you can use a ScotBrite pad but it's hard to get straight lines. I use a fine and medium Bergeon abrasive block on my bracelets.

Well what would be a good way to polish the edge of a GMTIIC case (the upper brushed part)? ScotBrite pads? Those green things you use in the sink?

The Green kitchen sponges work really good at taking off minor scratches. You just need to go in the same direction and straight to make it look good.

It is especially nice on the clasp that is always getting scratched on things

I've used Cape Cod cloths in the past and have switched to Sunshine cloths. Same excellent results, but they are dry and don't have that sickening vanilla smell. The liquid in the cape cods would always get in to the bezels and would lift the masking tape masks I use. No such issue with Sunshine Cloths (I buy mine on the bay).
