An unexpected incoming... Datejust 36 126200 "Palm"

I'd said before that I was done buying Rolexes. In fact, the only thing I was waiting on for was a Day Date. In YG and green dial (yes, I like green). The call just never seems to come. I had mentioned to my SA that, after my daughter was born, I would be interested in getting a DJ36 with the new blue fluted dial, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. Also wouldn't mind an OP41/OP36 "Celebration". But a few days back, this arrived and he asked if I would be keen instead.

Well, I thought it wasn't too bad. Smooth on oyster seemed correct as well. And, a fun Rolex is always nice to have.

Perfect for hacking through the jungles with a machete! Not quite my taste but ecstatic that you're enjoying your new watch. Congratulations on it, I hope a green dial DD is in your future soon! Just keep trying!

Congratulations! I agree that for the palm dial, oyster and smooth bezel option is the way to go.

Thanks! I've given up the chase, so if it comes then it will come. Otherwise, I have enough to wear and keep me entertained for a long time

Yes, I agree especially for the palm dial. On the fluted dial, it feels best with fluted bezel and jubilee.

Thank you! But... are they getting discontinued? Surely not; they are relatively new (since 2021?).

Thank you very much! I have not seen many good pictures of a Datejust 36 Palm, so I thought I'd give it a shot and try to take some decent pics!

It is certainly very modern -- perhaps someday I would swap something out for a birth year Rolex. But for now, I already have a birth year timepiece

Congratulations, that’s a great dial, it is very subtle in most light. Then when the sun hits it, tropical paradise! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Even the fluted motifs are going!? Wow, I guess we will see in the next few months.

Thank you Padi! I was secretly looking forward to your comment -- since Palm is the actual name for the watch and not a nickname

Cheers bud! I am just a temporary guardian for the watch, until my daughter is old enough to wear this. I hope she will continue to enjoy it as we will!

To be honest, I was unsure of the dial. I had never seen one before; only the fluted motifs at a Rolex preview in my local AD back in 2022 -- that's when I placed an order for one. As the story goes, that never arrived

When I first saw the palm dial in person, it was honestly nicer than I imagined it would be. In average lighting, the dial looks pretty normal and you don't really see the palms. But in direct sunlight, it pops.

It's an oddly polarizing watch. But I love it. One of the few other Rolexes I've considered other than my sub.
