Icon6 New GS flagship: Madison Ave NYC

A nice looking space at 540 Madison Avenue clearly showing the brand’s ambitions.

Is the GS space a sales location or for exhibition/brand value?

Both I think. It’s a boutique.

I bought my first GS from the Madison Ave. location. They were great!! Can't recommend them enough!

Looks nice. I visited the prior space, nothing to write home about, although the sales associate I met was first rate, friendly, knowledgeable, very professional. If he’s still in the new boutique, that’s a plus.

It’s not as hard to sell GS to a watch aficionado, the movements, the finishing and overall quality are evident; but to the average person with some money to spend, GS needs a good environment and presentation, this should help a lot.

GS boutiques like their watches are impressive. I’m more impressed each time I wear one of mine. Makes my Rolex’s feel raw and unfinished.

A beautiful store for sure. A lot of square footage for what does not appear to be a lot of display per square footage . Every time I go into stores like this I end up thinking that I am paying for all of this with my purchases. That is obvious, of course.

Crazy space for grand Seiko. Not saying GS is not worthy of a space like that, but I’m not understanding the value of the capex and recurring opex to run this boutique. A lot of money for not a a lot of upside. People who buy GS already know about GS. Not sure GS can convert random foot traffic into incremental units / sales

Key word: “Flagship” :-)

I don’t think they are looking to maximize $/sqf for this location…. They are seeking to elevate the brand and project an image.

Exactly. Just like the one at Place Vendome.

Exactly. The same for JLC, Breguet and others in NYC and some in Toronto. With the rent they are not money making ventures in those locations. My understanding is the VC boutique in Toronto sells on average 1 watch per month and the same for Hublot in Orlando.
