New Coke ceramic bezel is cooking, patent revealed

It looks like a new ceramic bezel coke GMT has been cooking for a while.
According to IG @niccoloy, they filed for patent is 2022 and its now public info.

I hope it’s this year! This will fuel more speculation on the Pepsi being discontinued as well, I imagine.

If it does happen this year we all know the frenzy that will follow. Just a couple months and we'll see.
As stated above, would be interesting to see if all the current GMTs would remain or just continue to expand the line.

I heard they cannot decide what MK to call it if it ever goes into production,now if the inserts were like the old aluminium ones and easily to DIY change that would be a big bonus.

This is an interesting patent. The base ceramic is zirconia (like all other Cerachrom bezels except the BLRO which uses an alumina base ceramic). They are achieving red color in a zirconia base (which they previously could not do and had to go to an alumina base) by doping with ceria, sintering in air and finally heat treating in hydrogen to red color (Ce3+) from brown (Ce4+). The other side of the bezel is blue after sintering in air (cobalt infiltration) and turns black after reduction in H2. So you can make a brown/blue bezel or a red/black bezel using this method but not a red/blue. And since this method uses a zirconia base the bezels may be more robust than the alumina based red/blue BLRO bezels.

Happy that some are happy but I personally find the BLNR the best color combo. Most practical color combo considering its function.

Y’all won’t have me competing for a Coke allocation.

I’d also bet something from the current GMT color-way will be retired if a Coke is released. The GMT line already feels a bit cluttered to me.

+1 here for modern GMTs (still like 16710 Pepsi)…also feels like a decent candidate to be discontinued. Hard to see the Pepsi going anywhere even with manufacturing challenge rumors swirling.
