Will getting a Sub be easier now…

This week I became a first-time Rolex, proud owner: DateJust, Blue, fluted, Jubilee. Love it! I waited for 15 months. Will I have the same wait time for a Sub (no date)? The Sub was top on my list, but the DJ was #2. My AD did send me a follow-up text indicating that he will continue to be on the lookout for my Submariner.

You should be getting one within a year at most

Been on the waiting list for two years with one AD and since 2018 with another AD I have Rolex buying history, not through those ADs not as much as a call email or text. I have all but given up.

Congratulations on the DJ and hopefully that gets you closer to the sub but how long that will take is anyone’s guess

i think a waiting time of 15 months for a specific submariner model would be not too bad,

but i think below 12 months is realistic as well given the circumstances

Good luck, I’d guess around a year, but could be a bit sooner.

That’s a gorgeous spec for a DJ, and getting a Sub should a done deal. Just a matter of time…

I would think they'd come through now that they got you your DJ. It's just a matter of when.

Far less Subs are delivered to ADS than SubDates. I think it is still hard to buy a Sub. Line is smaller than the NoDates, but relative to supply it is longer.

Why play the game? You can get a modern ceramic sub on the forum under 10k right now. It will be a 11 vs 12 but I prefer the movements in the 11.

My AD doesn't like when they allocate a watch and then have the buyer immediately follow up regarding another watch that isn't easy to get. The manager openly complained to me about this once while he was sizing my new Daytona 116500 on wrist. He was telling it gives off a spoiled vibe, or not appreciative of the watch they just purchased.

Sounds like your AD gives off spoiled vibes and is not appreciative of his customers

I am and have been gracious/appreciative of getting my DJ. My AD sent me the note about looking out for a sub for me, unsolicited. I will continue to check in and let him know my interest though, without being demanding.

Your AD is knob. They are selling you a piece, not giving it away for free or bestowing upon you some kind of honour. People need to make their ADs realize that the AD is providing a service for which they are charging a fair amount of cash.

If my AD ever told me that, I would create a sandstorm that the boutique manager would never be able to recover from.

Spoiled vibe? Not appreciative? Is your AD turning vinegar into Blantons? If not, they need to go sit down in the corner somewhere

I only stay on the wait-list for entertainment value these days. I asked for a sub to celebrate the arrival of my son. He now runs rings around me and I can have a conversation with him and I’m still waiting for that sub. Total waste of time and glad I went grey.

Congrats! That’s a beautiful Datejust, and , having seen it, on an acquaintance, you made a great choice. That should keep you happy, while you wait for your Sub. Now, wait about 2 months, before visiting your AD again, or even texting. When you do visit, make sure to wear your new Datejust. In fact, wear it on every visit. Follow up every couple of months. Be friendly, not demanding. Just stop in to chat, talk watches, sports, anything. Try on exhibition pieces, while there. Show interest in your SA’s life. Basically, be someone, to whom they want to allocate a Sub. You should get it fairly soon.

Kat
