Monte Carlo project.

If I was in the U.S., I'd probably have a go at this Tudor Monte Carlo project watch - it's back-of-the-sofa money at the moment. From a quick peep all orig. Incl dial, hands, soft edged plexi, non ridged pushers, bezel, insert, DW, etc etc...

Someone might get a steal !?

No Windermere in Florida (not beautiful Cumbria in UK) I'm seeing on listing. Ps one pusher, the north one is original the south one is service.

That is Lunar Oyster, in Florida great seller - bought a number of things from him and can use magic to make them appear in the UK! Often to be found posting as krlyuzh in the classifieds on here. Always has interesting/cool stuff and projects!

I’m surprised he is selling it as a project vs fixing it up/retailing it. I suspect it needs some expensive service.

That piece did catch my eye the other day. I'm curious, are parts readily available for that movement still? What would need to be done other than a basic overhaul?

It's a valjoux caliber 234 inside, parts can be sourced.

He seems to just sell most things on as-is, my 9411s without bezels, a 76100 I had my eye on this week that needed some lume and a dial touch up, this one, etc. I think it's just the business model to pass them on quickly but, yes, I'd always be budgeting for a movement service.

He once had a 7924 with a service Shield dial I really, really wanted. Always has some interesting stuff for sale, the sort of things other vintage dealers wouldn't retail (as-is), in a good way!

Not quite, I watched it sell for $8099 usd plus shipping on Sunday.
It was using private bids…

Oh yes thanks one and all - the original link now says $8099…. was blank yesterday morning for some reason.

Be a $17~18k watch when done even if insert and dial bit scruffy… so blagging at half that is a good snaffle for someone, but I suspect a few things could lurk costing $5k perhaps eg bits in calibre, 1 orig pusher, 7836 etc etc

ok guys, I have to confess...I am the winner of the auction..
I paid express and it's being shipped to me right now. I should receive it by thursday 9pm and than am catching a flight to HK on friday morning. I will be bringing it to classic watch repair and see whats the cost to restore it. I think the biggest challenge is to find replacement for the Chrono hand. besides the pusher, what else I need to replace? what is the original bracelet for this watch? 7836 or 9135?

Congrats - hope it goes well.

7836 btw 1970-76 the final few made in 76/77 could have come on a 78360 but v unlikely!

The crystal looks like it might be past it - but might polish out - a soft edged original is nice if possible to keep.

The dial has a few spots marks that can be carefully cleaned and the main hands look ok after a clean..

Sourcing an orange hand might be tough be about £500 or so....

Offer him £250 - any odd bits I have lying around i take silly offers on personally, as they are somewhat surplus to requirements and I know serious buyers are scarce ..he/she might feel the same ;-)

I do like the color combo of this 7149 on VRF, but don’t know if that’s considered to be a good price.
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/vint...r-t274875.html

Interestingly, my max bid for the one from eBay that @TuRo shared would have been $8100 usd + ~10% tax and shipping to me.

Fair price is that....all original isn't strictly right though, as it has service pushers !

Just some updates for anyone interested:

The orange chrono was paid but unfortunately the seller couldn't find it 😅. Was lucky to have found a 2nd seller and at a cheaper price. It's being shipped to HK as I write.

My watch guy came back and found a 7836 with 382 end links. Also it will be using a Tudor clasp and coded 71. So the bracelet will be period correct. Not exactly cheap for this bracelet.

Next is the pushers... got a pair of brand new original pushers. They only come in a pair and pretty expensive 😭. Realize a number of 7149 in the market are using after markets. Is it because it falls off easily when unscrewed? Mine did as I was fiddling with it. So if anyone is interested, I have a spare original pusher to let go.

The plex crystal will be changed and cant be reused. Not a biggie for that part.

Let's see the final results when its ready.
