Are SS daytonas no longer hard to get? UK

Are SS Daytonas no longer hard to find at ADs?
I have seen a few in ADs windows recently, and also inquired with grey dealers
to see if they want them..they all seem to want to pay under RRP..is this the norm now since the price increase?

I was in the UK earlier this month and stopped by an AD in Soho (near the Apple Store). He spotted mine right away and said that there is a wait of three to four years there, and that they're still selling at a premium over MSRP.

Maybe this is a different London.

Edit: as to grey dealers, here are three, all selling used, not new, for above msrp:
These guys are selling for 6550 pounds, 8000 pounds brand new:
http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Rolex/D...h-Watches.aspx

At this place they're going for over 6750 pounds, closer to 8000 brand new:
http://www.blowers-jewellers.co.uk/more_2.htm

And a third place, again in the 6500 pound and up range, up to (again) about 8000 brand new:
http://www.watches.co.uk/

Last time I heard, their MSRP comes in at about 6200 pounds in the UK, so they still seem to be commanding a nice premium.

White gold yes, SS no.

I speak to AD's on a regular basis and hear the same response about the SS, "Get in line" !!!

Where are the AD's you speak of Dannyy as there are numerous members here who will buy you a drink for that information?

Still around 40 people on the list at my local AD. 18Ct and TT models are pretty easy to find brand new in ADs, though.

I'm on the waiting list with my Goldsmiths AD. I'm the second name on the non-deposit list, and on the deposit list I was told there are 9 people waiting for there's. My contact at Goldsmiths said that in the past he only used to see 1, maybe 2 s/s Daytona's come into the shop for customers in a 12 month period, but in the last month he has seen 3 brand new one's come in, leaving the shop promptly with 3 very happy customers.

He still quoted me 4/5 years as an official guideline because as he put it himself "they have to, to avoid disappointment", but speaking to me "off the record" he said my waiting time would more likely be half that.

Ahh..ok that explains that one..its very rare to see a second hand watch in that particular ADs window..I never even thought it could be second hand....
I have been offered 2 others one black one white in the past 3 weeks though both at list...as said I spoke to a grey dealer I know..he was only prepared to pay £5800 for brand new UK watches....it certainly seems to me that there is not the same demand for this watch as there was....
When was the last time someone actually flipped one to a grey dealer for profit?

A friend of mine has been "on the list" at his local AD for around 5 years now, he buys a lot of stuff from the AD and is on very good terms, the AD reckons he has around 6 months left to wait if delivery stays as it is.....but guess what, my friend has changed his mind, he no longer lusts after the Daytona...so when it comes in guess who's getting it!!!!....what a friend eh......one of the best

There is an out of state AD with whom I have made several jewelry purchases including 2 Rolexes and with whom my in-laws have made many purchases over the years. While there in May looking for a gift for my wife the manager pulled me aside and let me know he had SS Daytona (white face) in the safe in case I was interested...if you are on a wait list, I think you are doing something wrong.

I have been on a list with my AD for just over 3 years - not a sniff of one coming through. I have noticed though that there are a few 3-4 year old models starting to become available through preowned dealers - the prices appear to be coming down to around the current RRP - I guess these watches were in the region of £3500 - £4000 when purchased new so somebody is still doing well on the deal

I think I am likely to give-up soon and bite the bullet on a pre-owned example.

Right. Waitlists in my experience are not worth the paper they are not written on. An AD tells you that they will "put you on the list" is stroking your chain. ADs sell them to friends, family and their good customers. Somebody cold calling and not having spent bunches of money in an AD is most likely not going to get a SS from that AD. Or even be put on the so called list. Yea, they might take your info down but its likely it is wadded up the minute you walk out of the AD after not purchasing anything.

Miracles do happen as some members here can attest to. Just generally speaking ADs use their meager allotment of SS as leverage to get you to spend or as a reward to loyal customers/friends or family.

When I was trying to get my first SS I went to many ADs and actually only saw a list being pulled out once. It was two pages long. Other ADs I dealt with for a fact I know told me I was on thier list but thier SS were going out the back door to friends of the owner.

What, like living in a country other than the U.S.? You know, the original question was about the U.K., not the U.S.
