Belated Incoming Tale
So a few weeks ago I decided to buy my wife a pair of diamond earings to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Now shes not really into watches as such but for her bithday last year she picked out the pink TAG Carrera that was launched around the same time as the Barbie film. As we were also going away for a week to Jamaica she wanted to get it adjusted slightly so I left her in the TAG boutique whilst I went to the Jewelers/AD to have a look at earings. Now usually if I say im off to look at watches she wont come anywhere near and I have to hunt her down but on this occasion she came straight to me but luckily I saw her enter so ducked into the Rolex boutique. She followed me in and I was approached by a member of staff who turned out to be the manager. He caught me on the hop so I just asked him to check on my expression of interest that I had made as the last time I picked up a watch the SA couldnt get into thier system to check for me (Jan23). He had a look and and confirmed that I was still registered for a JC DSSD. We discussed flippers and the state of the market and what might get released/discontinued next month(Coke and YM2). I explained that I don't hassle or bother them because as much as I want a watch its not essential as I have other watches to wear so when I get the call its a nice surprise and I haddnt been in since my last pick up. He said it was refreshing to hear that and saw that I was wearing the EXP2 that I got from them and then said he diddnt think I would have to wait too much longer.
A few days later I went back on my own to look at earings and whilst I was sat with the SA the manager came past and said hello and joked about me hassling them. I explained what had happened before and he laughed and congratulated me on my anniversary and hoped I had a nice holiday. Forward on a week and I get a call telling me that they have a JC with my name on it coming in tommorrow and could I make an appointment for the day after to come in to collect. I explained that I was leaving the next afternoon to drive down to Heathrow so was it possible to collect on the way past. She explained that for security purposes they did not know what time the delivery would be so If I wasn't able to come in after delivery then I would have to pass and wait till they had another one in. I did suggest paying thier and then or calling in to pay and picking up when I got back but she said it wasn't allowed. She did say that when they got the delivery someone would give me a call to see if we could make it work. Two hours befoe we were due to set off they called me to say it had arrived so I hot footed it straight there and now im a a proud owner of a DSSD. I chatted with the SA whilst she explained the functions and she was pretty knowlageble again said the same as the manager about release/discontinued models. Said she had been there 23 years and to her knowledge they had only ever sold one Platinum Daytona. I asked about the Deep Sea challenge and she said they wont ever see one and that her biggest problem were people registering for watches then not returning calls once one became available said an AirKing had come in and it took 50 calls before some one claimed it. I asked about getting an extra link fitted to both my EXP2 and Milgauss as I wear both with the extended braclet and she asked me to bring both in as the clasp can be moved which is something i diddnt know ( i havent checked yet). So the first thing I noticed was how heavy it is on wrist its hefty with serious prescence compared with my sub and i thought maybe I had made a mistake but just a look at that dial and I knew that i haddn't. As the week went on I noticed it less and less and now its as comfy as my other watches. Spookily I was having a drink at the bar on the plane and got talking to a guy wearing the same watch he had also just picked his up the same week and it turned out he was also in the same trade as me. Not sure if I will purchase any more models Im happy with what I have but suppose that depends on what they release in the future. |

Really cool watch! Neat story as well. Looks like a beautiful location you were able to get some pictures in as well.

Congrats! Mine hasn’t really left my wrist since I picked it up 2 weeks ago. I love the difference between this and my sub as well.
Instead of having 2 different watches that vary in color or bezel alone, this gives me a variance that makes it refreshing to put one or the other on my wrist. Enjoy it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Congratulations on the watch and the timing of its arrival. It's quite the beast.
I expect that the moving of the clasp of the EXP2 and Milgauss which the SA mentioned is the hidden three position micro adjustment in the clasp. It's something I can adjust with little effort and no damage so it's guaranteed idiot proof. |

Great story and a great watch.
Thanks for sharing. I have the same watch and I love it too. Although it feels large initially, you get used to it and it feels very comfortable. |
